Thanks for sharing. Finally someone sharing some useful 305 knowledge. I’m going to rebuild one I got for free and put in my Jeep. Not looking for tons of horsepower I have a 500 hp 1300 tq cummins so I just want the sound and reliability

Built many 305 yes there are 305 head gaskets my preference is victor/mahle .026 thick .

I have a 77 C10 with the 305 that,s locked up caused by spun bearing. Other than possibly needing to have the crank replaced or reground. Im thinking about rebuilding it to see if I can do it, it will be my first rebuild.

wow man u r more organized than me. my step dads shop has 12 different sets of sockets all intermingled. i had to sort it to size at least just find sockets.

Curious about interchangeable parts like the rocker covers and shielding for my 77 corvette..all the spark plug and heat shielding is gone and if it says corvette it cost more..lol great videos tho I appreciate it.

My 305 i just pulled a month ago was even dirtier than that. It ran pretty rough when cold but after ten min warmup it was ok. i never did do a compression tst or anything but could part of reason for running rough and weak be a sticking valve in the exhaust manifold side? musta been some winter warm up thing or emissions , who knows but even when open it seemed pretty restirctive, if it stuck closed one whole side of the engine wouldnt be able to breath

I know I will before I started I want to pressure wash the heck out of that thing so it was clean as all get out on the outside,

this is the most boring tear down i ever seen ,really man,if your so OCD of oil on your hands wear gloves ,a hour to get heads off,ha you wouldnt work in my shop
