I know this video is pretty old, but I'm trying to finish my 305 to 350 swap in my 93 GMC Sierra 1500, CA model. I am to the point where all I have left to do is set timing, prime my oil pump and install my main pulley and fan. However, I started this tear down 4 years ago and due to unforeseen circumstances I had to move the truck to storage for a couple years. I have a couple wires, and vacuum lines that I just cannot identify where they go for the life of me and I'm desperate for some help. @jaysgarage36164 күн бұрын
@@jjmccloud Hi there , I can never recommend not balancing , however I have had/seen several engines not balanced that were just fine. There are probably hundreds of thousands flat top engines out there not balanced and very smooth. Piston weights for rebuilder pistons are generally fine. Light weight pistons or some dome pistons can really vary and should be balanced with stock parts.

@jaysgarage361617 күн бұрын
@@HygroHybrid Sorry for the late reply , most engines from the factory had rods that fell within specs , pistons were within a spec and cranks were balanced within the spec of parts with it. The cam gear will only attach to the cam one way, with TDC at piston one, just put the cam gear on the camshaft and rotate to match the timing points. At this point the cam will be in the correct position.

With the 7.5 inch rear end taller gears (ie, 3.08, 2.73) are stronger and can take a real beating , taller gears are much stronger because the pinion gear is much bigger , the 4.11 (a gear u dont want to run on the street anyway) has a pinion more like a baby's fist and is more likely to strip itself or the crown , stay away from your lower gear ratios and don't worry about it , thats been my experience....
