30kw Carbon fiber Enclosed Ducted Fan (EDF) initial testing

First power up of our EDF. This will be used to power a glider using a 28s19p (117V 95Ah) battery pack that we are designing. In this test, we have fusing and voltage set to limit power to 1kw, full power is 30kw, 45kw peak.
This EDF and our custom battery modules will be used to convert a glider into an electric airplane.

We're at a point now with electric motor technology where our largest limiting factor by far is power storage. Most major developments discussed are incremental improvements to the system as a whole trying to squeeze every bit of efficiency from the motor or transmission or overall weight, but what we really need is some big changes in battery technology.

@tinolangmanok941 what if it isn't a battery thing though... I mean we have wind turbines and the air is already moving. Why not try to re capture some of the energy being used.

@Zestybwoi I mean, why not? Even if the motor used is reduced in size and multiplied. Then, feed in to a cap bank for discharge that is in excess of the normal power supply. While it might not be ideal for drag. You could at least try and recapture some of the potential energy. Kind of like squirrel cage roters at the edges or something. It's hard to conceptualize in words lmfao.

Wicked! Even attached to tow hitch I reckon you'll want a bit more than that stand to hold it at 30kW? I look forward to seeing either way :)

если поставить планетарный редуктор и заставить вращаться импеллеры в разные стороны тяга будет выше..для летающего авто отношение масса к тяге очень важны..
