i think you should disconnect the steering from any other axle that controls it, for better stability and auto fixing

Very nice well-thought-out and executed Lego toys (scale models if you like) except they were not designed to travel! Or they would've assembled the wheels on splines and bearings instead of push-fit axles...that is where the weakness was! Also at (I estimate) 1/10th scale: 8mph is 80mph and 13mph is 130 mph!! (scale speed) which is very very fast for big lorries anyway!

If you are going to conduct a test a a scaled-down vehicle, you need to scale down the speed. The first vehicle is approximately 1:12 scale, so 14mph X 12 = 168mph. Tell me, what truck have you seen clear obstacles at 168mph without breaking, let alone reach that speed.
