This is my impression after receiving my camo E-cell Monarch Crown AWD about three weeks ago; I have put in nearly 200 miles of riding on it thus far. Every day, everywhere I went, I would have admirers asking me about the bike! I parked and lock it in front of supermarket and at least a couple of people would come up and ask about it. - - - So, here are the personal impression of the pros and cons of this bike thus far... - - - PROS- Extreme eye-catching and attention-getting. It's a MASSIVE bike and weight in just shy of 100 lbs.! The company has been extremely courteous and responsive with emails and call backs and Dave Cleveland, the owner was very personable, knowledgeable and helpful with all my inquires. All the extra goodies came as promised and I have made use of the easily clipped-on double pannier bags almost daily. Both front and rear luggage carriers have been very helpful. The bike has lots of power, especially when I put in the dual motor mode when I start out after waiting for traffic light! I then switch over to the rear hub drive after the start to conserve energy. I have since rode in pouring Seattle rain with this bike and the front and rear aluminum fenders worked magic to keep my pants relative dry! The Vee brand Bulldozer tires appeared to last better than the Kenda Juggernaut tires I had on my last ebike! The color cockpit LCD was very bright and easy to use; I especially love the inclusion of a clock on the upper left hand display so I don't need to whip out my phone to check ETA, etc. Excellent shocks front and back, though they are a bit stiff just now but I will adjust them accordingly soon. And I cannot forget the very fast charger included with the bike! The bike has three charging ports, one of each individual battery and then a combined charging port located near the base of the frame that I could charge BOTH batteries at the same time thru it. E-cell even included a Y- charging cable if I wanted to charge both dismounted batteries all at once! - - - Now for the CONS- It's a BIG and HEAVY bike; be prepare to make room for something the size of a single bed in your home! Maybe because I was use to slightly narrower handler bar, I found the steering becoming a bit unstable if I was to let go one hand, like when I had to adjust my glasses, etc., that meant the same turn used to take less arm movements in the past now would need for me to 'stretch' out just that tad bit more to steer around the same turn; the bike would readily wobble and if I was to take in even a little air or even just over some bumps, I definitely have to keep BOTH hands on firmly on the handle bar. While the extra wide palm extensions were 'comfortable' when cruising, they became less easily to grip firmly thus making me feel less in control of the steering. I had decades of experience riding single tracks and this big bike really take some new getting use to. This handle more like a speedy truck than a nimble SUV. Lights- while the bike has both head and tail lights, both could seriously use some upgrading! While the headlight was adequate and mounted firmly right above the front fender and powered by the bike, it was not a big or bright light; easy solution would be replace it with any after-market CREE high lumen light. The tail light was not a brake light as in my last ebike nor was it powered by the bike; it required its own AA batteries that will need to be replaced from time to time. Thinking maybe I would simply rig a long thin USB cable from it to the USB port by the frame mounted front battery. I loved the 3-prong fast charger but the very loud fan inside the fast charger needed some getting use to! Cable bundling could use a little more streamlining as the way it is now, it took up a big portion of the front luggage rack space, leaving little room on that small rack to strap anything bigger than a bread box. I could see using it to strap soft bundles like a sleeping bag for camping? I wish I could add pannier extensions below it too. For some reason, even when fully charged, the power level only show being 97% full; another Crown owner has made the same comment here also. I love the included mirrors but because of the width of the handle bar and the mirrors being bar end mounted, I could not use them; it would have been great if the mirrors could be mounted ON the handler bar like many motorcycles ones. I could barely get the bike thru my front door and would be impossible if the mirrors were mounted too. - - - All in all, I couldn't think of anything else I could add to my comments on my new bike. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great looking, fast, powerful and sturdy bike that could go on and off road equally at ease. Just don't expect it to handle like a true mountain bike though!

So I built my own bike, with a 1000W motor kit and 48V battery and a regular ol cargo bike, the end result cost me about $500 after everything was said and done and honestly has a pretty comparable distance and speed to this bike. I can't imagine paying 2.5k for that. Folks, build your own unless you think paying nearly 2k is worth not having to build it yourself. (screw on battery, replace hand breaks, wire everything, and replace wheel) It might not *look* as nice, but it's just as fun and turns heads.

@justintrigg5528 4 жыл бұрын
@@CurtisDrew1 One wheel (rear) and one battery, so admittedly I can't go as far as this bicycle but everything else is comparable. But the motor kit cost me 200 and the battery 300. My bike is just a cargo bike I got from walmart. Been zooming to and from work and around the local trails for the past few months and would say it's worth it to not pay thousands for something I can build myself for hundreds.

Also seen in stores. Amazon has a gazillion of them, but I’d go with Thule or a few others, not something to save a little money on. Still, shouldn’t be much more than a hundred bucks, depending on weight etc. These ain’t That heavy, and I’ve had a trialed since 15 years old👍🏼

Ordered a Super Monarch in matte black. Should be in around mid-December, 2022. Luckily E-Cells home in Parumph, NV is only about 50 miles away from me. I'll use it for hunting in northern Nevada. Hunting in Nevada's vast areas requires either an ATV or a VERY capable e-mountain bike like the E-Cells Super Monarch. An s-mountain bike is SO much quieter than any ATV. It's a stealth way to hunt.

UPDATE: I FiNALLY got my E-CELLS bike in March 2023 ("supply chain problems") and love everything but the weight. But hey, that's what you get for having 2 motors and 2 batteries so until Li-ion batteries become solid state batteries I'll gladly pay the weight penalty. For hunting I bought a BLUETTI AC200 MAX lithium IRON phosphate power center and to charge it in the backcountry an Off Grid TREK solar blanket. No need tor a noisy Honda generator and dangerous, smelly gas cans. Also this setup is great for home power outages.

Those fat tires do take quite a hit on your range, tho. At least, rolling friction doesn't increase to as high of an exponent of speed as does wind resistance, so at higher speeds, the difference is probably negligent. This calls for some testing with various tire sizes and types.

There are differences with electric bikes in the Netherlands. Is saw you started at the trafficlights without using the pedals and also saw it in other parts of your biking trail. In the Netherlands I think we would call it a moped with an extra use of pedals. This is the same for standard and fast bikes.

Looks , seems to be pretty amazing. MAJOR concern is how the front suspension fork can handle having a 500w motor pull it. Most 2wd bikes have a solid front fork for that reason. Can you tell me if you think the front fork can handle the motor over the long run?. I really love this bike. Also, what is customer service like with this company and are they a fly by night?. The price for what you get is really very reasonable. Any words of wisdom here?

They answer the phone after three rings and you get to talk to a real person. That alone helped me make my decision. They are very responsive. They did accidentally put my batteries in a box that was rated for 24 lbs. and put 25 lbs. on the label so the box got returned to them. They turned it around the next day so instead of getting it on Thursday, I will get it on Saturday or Monday. Not a huge deal and they responded immediately on that. I am in Maui, Hawaii and they were one of the only companies that would ship to me by air for two-day shipping. They went half on the shipping for me. And they also threw in a front basket along with the other great free stuff they give with each bike.

AKA mopeds. If you go this fast, the amount of gearing you would need so your feet don't spin-out at these speeds would be ridiculous; going at these speeds in the cycle lane is a hairy place to be because of the stupid decision citys' have made to put driveways along arterial roads, because the the way they orientated cycle lanes next to turn-lanes and because of slip-lanes. If you are looking for a serious actual electric bicycle for good prices I would go with the eZee brand which have IGH options like the Alfine 8, 28Ah26v options, hydraulic brakes, 20mph speeds, and good enough uphill capability (with leg assistance) to tow a flatbed trailer with a big fridge on it.

I just forgot to ask them whether it has an USB port to plug something in and whether the the headlight was wired to the bike and at what lumen. As I have yet gotten the bike yet, my initial intention was to wire that separate battery operated tail light to a USB port via long thin wire strapped along the frame if possible. - - - Varun, do you live near Palisades Interstate Park? I can do all of this fine on my 300W ebike in Auckland, which has ridiculous hills. The difference is the matter of perspective. 32km/h is ideally the most I want to travel at ever in general by myself, otherwise I'm gonna bring my ebike onto the train. On the extreme end, I'm not gonna be the cause of slamming a car into the sidewalk right into a child or someone's fence (which the latter I have seen the aftermath over a dozen times or so these past few years). And it is really helpful knowing the suburbs are more cycleable than people might first think in terms of distance. 50% of all trips are under like 5km, so it makes sense. Also I think that anything higher than 35km/h is a not an electric bicycle. The way you experience the world through sound, wind, blurring of vision; how you respond to mistakes and obstacles; how you talk to your mate beside you riding to the diary; how you take the hills. All is unique to cycling.

Ok, a good review to bring unknown, or less known bikes to us. However, a better more detailed look at the components, would be nice (What tires & do they have puncture protection?). In addition, you can find those components on other rough & tumble ebikes. Like the Veego 750, for one, at about $2,200_ not dual suspension, or dual battery, and a step thru. Also take a look at the EVELO Dual Suspension ebike, w/a mid-drive motor. Thanks!

I was really interested in this unit as I have a very similar bike, but with only 1 rear hub (48v)500w motor run by a 750w power supply, but my immediate issue was the run time.. I am getting nearly 100km of run time on my bike if I do not use the pedal on flat ground and around 150 if I also peddle, that allows me to to go out for a couple of days and camp/explore deep into the forest trails without any need to return for a charge.. I like the idea of the dual hubs, it's the amount of time it takes to drain the battery that kills it for me(unless the run time was wrong).. Cool bike though, looks well built and would like to know the hauling capability(max load weight) plus how much does this bike weigh..?? Most people do not understand that they will need a more robust bike hauler than many bike rack manufactures don't have something that can haul safely over 40-60lbs..

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzfaq.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Hey everyone - how comfortable is the with the way your body sits holding the handlebars? I would be using it to cruise 4 miles on the road from my house to the beach and then to ride on the beach. Are you comfortable in that position? Does it feel more like sitting on a mountain bike a hybrid or a beach cruiser? How did it handle on the sand? How does it handle on the road for 5 miles? Much thanks!

What is the point / benefit of the second drive motor ? Its added to the weight and cost so it must have a benefit. I can only presume that the bike can handle very steep / rough terrain but the test riding didn't show anything like that. Unless you specifically want to go places that would utilize the second motor, this would not be the right bike for you.

I'd have to make a fundraiser for this. I was investing in another bike that goes a bit faster than this one, but I don't know..compared to this one and the other one I wanna get, it's tricky. It's still 0$ on that new bike I wanna get though. :/ I have a bike myself, but the speed is only 25mph max with me on but gets to about 30 at times. The battery is weak as it only goes 10 miles even drawing 1000w. It's disappointing though and I really wanna get support on getting a better bike for traveling around.

I built the same thing ten years ago. You want your e bike to be as light as possible. My dual motor ebike was almost a hundred pounds. Try pedaling this tank with dead battery's in the summer heat and try lifting it over logs or anything. I learnt my lesson with heavy bikes.
@jakegarrett8109
@jakegarrett8109 4 жыл бұрын
Haha, that’s no joke! My road race bike (nothing particularly fancy, but it topped out at 20 lb) allowed me to do like 28 mph average (over 25-30 mile road races), but I put a heavy hub motor on the back (it’s like over 12 pounds, just for the motor), and something like a 15 pound battery on it (so like a pretty decent heavy bowling ball), and I ran out of battery and ugh, it was one taxing ride back! Felt like I was regenerating the battery (didn’t seem to charge it though), but man was I not ready for that in some full blown Texas heat! That made me exhausted, not some 50 mile epic ride, but a 5 or 6 mile ride from work back home, lol! Haha, never been so exhausted at something that should be no sweet, haha, I was getting inverse tunnel vision or something (normally on races I’d get about half my vision blacked out on the edges, but this was like the center was white like staring at a light for too long until I got back and sat down and then barely could see my own hands in front of me, lol, it apparently takes a lot to move a heavy eBike, and they seem to drag a LOT! Now I know, check the battery or make sure I’ve got snacks for my own battery, haha!). A hundred pounds on a trail would be brutal, that’s for sure.
