みなさん、こんにちは！
またまた我が家の松が枯れてしまいました。
この松はマツクイムシの被害にあっていなかったので、樹幹注入剤を打っていませんでした。
原因不明ですが、しかたなくチェーンソーで切り倒します。
幸いなにもない方向に傾いています。
倒す方向に切込みを入れ、反対側から幹の半分ほど切れば、重力で自然と倒れます。
切り口を見ると、やはり松くい虫の被害はなく、きれいな松材です。
もったいないので、椅子とテーブルの支柱にします。
さっそく並べてみました。
ここにテーブルを作ろうと思います。
間もなく梅雨入りですが、
南天が一気に大きくなってきました。
サルスベリも
ヒイラギも
大晦日に剪定した効果が出てきたようです。
そして、我が家に１本だけのモミジ。
モミジは日当たりが良すぎてもダメ。
適当に日陰のある谷川の近くが良いのですが・・・
ずっと気になっていたので、さっそく剪定。
すっきりしました。
これなら今年は期待できそうです。
５年前に皮を剥いておいた丸太を数本、道まで下ろします。
表面は腐っていますが、中身は大丈夫。
製材すれば十分使えます。
これがどんな板になるかこうご期待。
使えない部分は薪にします。
さすがにこういう作業をすると、
体力の衰えをひしひしと感じますね、
むしろ、まだできた、と喜ぶべきでしょうか？
とにかく、テーブルを作るための製材の準備ができました。
さて、畑に戻りました。
一週間前に撒いたきゅうり、しっかり発芽しています。
野菜作りは、やっぱりタイミングですね！
里芋の芽が出てきました。
ジャガイモと同じように、
できるだけ大きくなるよう、土寄せをします。
現在、温度は25℃前後。
野菜は正直ですね。
この葉っぱを見ると季節を感じます。
梅雨になったらさぞかし大きくなっているでしょう。
でも収穫は11月。
貴重な冬の保存食です。
このきゅうりは、もうすぐ実がなるかも。
大根は収穫できます。
トマトの茎もしっかり伸びてきました。
問題は、どうやって雨季の病気を抑えるかです。
さて、いよいよ玉ねぎの収穫です。
完全に倒れています。
倒れてからも肥大していますが、
あまり放置すると腐り始めます。
倒れてから一週間、
いいころ合いのはず。
どれほど成長しているか、期待しつつ、
一本一本、畑から引き抜きます。
11月末に植えた500本の玉ねぎの苗。
果たして何個収穫できるでしょうか？
半年間待ったご褒美ですね。
去年取り残したジャガイモが何本か育っています。
あとで掘ってみます。
ということで、約300個ほど収穫できました。
これから大きいものは保存用に乾燥しようと思います。
製材所のテントにロープを張って、玉ねぎを吊るします。
5・6個づつタコ糸で縛って、ロープに引っ掛けます。
シカの被害を防ぐために3ｍ以上の高さに吊るします。
こんな感じになりました。
大きめの玉ねぎ150個。
小さいものは、家の軒下にネットに入れて吊るしました。
これで、今年いっぱいもつでしょう。
その後、3キロ離れた近くの農協に堆肥を買いに。
ちなみに、ここには布団の丸洗いができる貴重なコインランドリーがあります。
15キロ500円の堆肥二袋。
これを使って玉ねぎを収穫した畑の土づくりをします。
土作りをしたら、これだけじゃがいもと玉ねぎが出てきました。
玉ねぎを収穫した畑には抗菌効果があり、
肥料いらずで後作ができるといわれています。
連作はよくないですが、
交互連作に適している野菜の組み合わせがあり、
玉ねぎの場合はニンジンとか。
そこで、草取りをしなくていいよう玉ねぎに使ったマルチシートをそのまま使って、
筋蒔きをしなくていいペレットタイプのニンジンの種を蒔きます。
11月にニンジンを収穫して、また玉ねぎを植える予定です。
果たして、計画通り成功するでしょうか？
うまくいけば、自給自足に大きな自信になります。
Hello everyone!
Another pine tree in my garden has died.
This tree had not been damaged by pine bark beetles, so I had not injected any trunk injection into it in March.
The cause is unknown, but I had no choice but to cut it down with a chainsaw.
Luckily, it was leaning in the direction of safty area.
If you make a cut in the direction of the tree to fall and cut about halfway down the trunk from the other side, it will fall naturally due to gravity.
Looking at the cut surface, there is no damage from pine bark beetles, and it is a beautiful pine tree.
It would be a shame to throw it away, so I will use it as a support for chairs and a table.
I lined them up right away.
I'm thinking of making a table here.
The rainy season will soon begin, but
the nandina has grown rapidly.
The crape myrtle and holly trees
seem to have paid off after pruning them on New Year's Eve.
And I have only one maple tree in my site.
Maples are no good if they are too sunny.
Near a stream with some shade is best, but...
It had been bothering me for a while, so I pruned it right away.
It looks neat now.
This looks like I can expect good results this year.
I bring down several logs that I peeled five years ago onto the road.
The surfaces are rotten, but the insides are fine.
If I saw them down, they will be perfectly usable.
Stay tuned to see what kind of boards they will become.
The unusable parts will be turned into firewood.
Doing this kind of work really makes me feel how my physical strength is declining.
Or, should I be happy that I still managed to do it?
Anyway, the lumber is ready to be sawn down to make a table.
Now, I'm back in my field.
The cucumbers I planted a week ago have sprouted well.
Growing vegetables is all about timing!
Vegetables are really honest.
The taro sprouts have come out.
As with potatoes,
I'm hilling them up with soil so that they can grow as large as possible.
Currently the temperature is around 25°C.
Vegetables are honest.
Looking at these leaves, I can really feel the season.
They'll be really big by the time the rainy season starts.
But they won't be harvested until November.
They're a valuable preserved food for the winter for me.
This cucumber may soon bear fruit.
These radishes are ready to be harvested.
The tomato stems have grown strong.
So, the question is how to prevent diseases during the rainy season.
Well, it's finally time to harvest the onions.
They've completely fallen over.
They've continued to grow since falling over,
but if left alone for too long they will start to rot.
A week has passed since they fell over,
so it should be a good time to do so.
I pull them out one by one from the field,
eager to see how much they've grown.
The 500 onion seedlings were planted at the end of November.
How many will I be able to harvest?
It's a reward for waiting six months.
Some of the potatoes that were left behind last year are growing.
I'll dig them up later.
So I managed to harvest about 300.
I'm going to dry the larger ones from now on for storage.
I stretched a rope over my sawmill tent and hung the onions on it.
I tied them in groups of 5 or 6 with string and hooked them onto the rope.
I hung them over 3m high to prevent damage by deer.
