I am with you on the walking to the neighborhood school thing. We bought our house specifically for proximity to elementary school and it's SO wonderful! My kids walk themselves most of the time and it saves me the stress of having to wake up babies from nap and load everyone in the car. It is also lovely to walk with them and friends.

Yes, Alison! You totally get it! It is seriously one of my absolute favorite parts of the day walking home from school with my son and his friends! And yes, it will be awesome when my boys are big enough to walk or ride bikes on their own!

#29 - my son had a life threatening issue when he was younger. It wasn’t devices I trusted in as much as myself I trusted in. I was very blessed to find a doctor, who after our first appointment said “I am giving you homework. Here are some scriptures for you to meditate upon. You have to know your son belongs to God and He loves and cares for your son even more than you. Trust Him.” It was freeing! #15 - YES! I learn sooo much from all of my kids all the time!! I always hate when parents say “I hope you grow up to have a kid just like you!” I personally think that is a curse instead of a blessing. I pray my kids are better than me. I pray that they learn from my mistakes and make different and better mistakes - ones that they learn and grow from instead of hinder them. And as they do, they share with me - what the Lord is teaching them, how they see things and the world (I am an extreme extrovert and 2 of my kids are extreme introverts - I have learned so much from them - you might really like the book Quiet by Susan Cain). #12 how wonderful you are learning this so young! Best advice I was ever given was to slow down and listen to my kids. Even if it was the 100th time they are telling me about something. When you listen when they are 5 and they realize Mom cares and Mom listens, then when they are teens, they will realize Mom cares and Mom listens. My children are now young adults and all their lives have always been open and honest with me. To a point it sometimes hurt to hear all they were thinking and going through. But I am so thankful! I got to be the one giving them advice and praying with them instead of a peer who might be trying to lead them down a wrong path. Thank you for sharing your list. I usually don’t comment on many videos (lack of time), but I really wanted to encourage you - these are lessons I wish I had known at your age. You are doing a good job Mom!!!

Paula, this is seriously one of my favorite comments EVER! Thank you for generously sharing your time to share this with me. That doctor sounds INCREDIBLE and like a massive blessing from the Lord! I never thought about how much I am also trusting in MYSELF for George's health, but now that you mention your struggle, I realize I have more surrendering to do! Big time! Also a great point about your kids growing up better than you! One of my prayers is that my kids' faith and that of their spouses (if they get married) would actually make me uncomfortable and push me because they have such a huge love of and view of God. I will have to leave those results up to the Holy Spirit though! haha If my kids turn out well, it will be in spite of me more than because of me! haha And yes, the listening! That convicts me even when I think about yesterday and a time when I was listening to my son but doing something else at the same time and not looking him in the eye. I DO want him to feel like I care and always want to listen! Thank you, Paula!! So encouraged by your words! You are an incredible and wise woman!

I think it was 29... not trusting in devices to keep my child alive. My daughter is on a ventilator and monitor whenever she sleeps (she stops breathing completely when she is asleep...central apnea) and I rely on those alarms. But I also pray that I'll hear them. And yes..he holds her life...not the machines. Oh and the ambulance one...I hear those sirens differently now because I know how it feels when they're coming to help my child.
