This is exactly what I have wanted to do for so many years. Since I was young. I have property, and have a camp, but modern. I would like to build a log cabin for my father before he is gone, and I think I am going to use your methods to build. I was going to try to do it easier, but the process is the big thing. you typically want as much roof overhang as possible on the log cabin especially in the wet climate like Alaska. it push back roof splashback away from the lower courses so they don't rot in a hurry
