Greeting adventurers. In today's video I install and review the AliExpress gear shift supporter, which is designed to improve the smoothness and operation of shifting of the KTM 390 Adventure/Duke. Hope you enjoy!

the shaft support on any bike suppose to make the shift mechanism unbreakable, which you can do with fast shifts and/or foot banging on the lever.

I like the idea of the new series! Next item in your list that it would be cool to show, should be the neck bracers! I have the feeling that these are completely snake oil but some people say it improves the vibrations of the front part. 🤷

I always wondered how that little two support clamp helps reduce the vibration?. the headlight assembly is supported on two metal support coming from both sides and the clamp is just screw on to the plastic cover that hides all the wiring and the vibration is always on the top part of the assembly not the entire front part. I would rather someone to make a support that screws on to the factory metal support and the top part of the headlight assembly. I have seen someone done that mod :)

I've seen those for other bikes with a bearing. I think it will help seal and shaft life a little but it will get worn fast being aluminum

Good series... IMO even if the shift shaft support didn't improve shifting experience, the reduction in play will definitely help improve the shaft mechanism and seal life for sure, that 1mm play will definitely be taxing on the seals and mechanics on the long run especially for those who ride hard :)

It's certainly a good addition. I've seen a few people having to replace their entire shift shaft after bending them.... Don't ask me how the hell they did it haha.

Wow, then must have really tried hard. The shaft is so solid even without the supporter.

@advinjapan I'm not sure how they did it. I suspect one was due to wrecking. I want to say the other was some one that was heavy footed. Another advantage would be that this could possibly extend the shift shaft seal life. I've personally had to replace mine.

Ok there is no bearing in there so what about when it will get hot? Or what about when there is going to be mad or dirt? I don’t think it’s a good idea

Thanks for the comment👍. The shaft isn’t spinning all the time, only when you shift. Heat will only come from engine, not the shaft itself. Dirt won’t be an issue as the clearances are so tight. In any case, as I mentioned in the video, the part does hardly anything, I’ll probably be taking it off. Thanks for the concern anyway👍.

I put the "one finger" clutch pull on my 390 Adv and promptly took it off. The problem was, it had a hex nut on the arm and I couldn't find a sweet spot for adjustments. Either it was too much or not enough clutch. Besides, the stock pull is not that hard. Just my opinion.

Yes, what I’ve found with most Ali products is they tend to do what they are advertised to do, but the difference is so small, just isn’t worth it. I will say though, I’ve had a tool bag from them that has been absolutely fantastic. It’s hit and miss. If you want a true one finger clutch, take a look at prospec. I’ve got a video on that, very well designed product.

Im wondering if antiseize may be a good idea on that part? Likely a better idea than lubricant? I dont necessarily have the experience, but looking at the worst case scenario. Maybe keep the original screws in the bike in case of an issue.

I’ll like be taking this off all together. Just doesn’t do much of anything.
