The UK is the envy of many countries that are trying to preserve their railway history In my country it is extremely difficult to bring a locomotive back to steam a lot of government interference to go through yet you have so many people involved in the restoration of steam locomotives good on you mate

I would love to see 34058 Sir Frederick Pile in steam someday when he is restored from scrapyard condition to his rebuilt condition and I would love to see him run on the mainline network in the UK.

Named after a great Army man of WW2, his book is as fascinating as this loco .He was responsible for the anti aircraft defences /guns etc in the UK 🇬🇧 😊
@chutalotr9 ай бұрын
Due to his role as GOC Anti-Aircraft Command - a key role in the Battle of Britian - hence why this BB class locomotive was named after him.

Thanks to Mike V for saving her and his donating to MHRly. May he RIP in the knowledge of an assured future for his loco, at last. Richard T.

Hi Rich. No bleeding E hear. Fantastic work as always on the Midhants. I watch from afar....

Ah! I can see now why the caution. No buffered or coupling. Tricky to say the least.

Last time I saw this locomotive it was in a right sorry state! This was at the Avon Valley Railway where I understand work was being carried out on the motion. It does look like some more work has been done since it has been at the Watercress Line, but judging by the flanges on the tyres it still looks like the amount of work still needed is extensive! I wonder what state the boiler is in?! It is the best thing for this locomotive that it`s now in the hands of SLL

To think, there are enough Bulleid Pacific's surviving today, that if all restored, could easily run main line trains services from Waterloo to Exeter and Bournemouth again!

One step closer to being restored

Great to see another Bulleid Pacific on its way back to life! 😍What is the estimated timeframe for her/his return to steam?
@richardharrold97369 ай бұрын
Don't hold your breath. SLL have got four operational Bulleids to maintain and 34010 Sidmouth and 35025 Brocklebank Line ahead of this in the queue...
@tobys_transport_videos9 ай бұрын
@@richardharrold9736 Wow! Thanks for the update! That's a fair number of locos to maintain or bring back to life!
@richardharrold97369 ай бұрын
@@tobys_transport_videos yep, this is Bulleid number seven for them. Not including the two Merchant Navies they sold to Jeremy Hosking (one then recently operational, one an unrestored hulk like this). They also restored an Austerity and a BR 4MT tank.
@tobys_transport_videos9 ай бұрын
@@richardharrold9736 I'm guessing then that we're looking at at least 10 years before this one sees steam?
@richardharrold97369 ай бұрын
@@tobys_transport_videos Easily. I don't know when they're going to find the time to do it, especially with the Sidmouth project to get their teeth into next... and Brocklebank after that... and of course Freddie needs a new tender, so unless they just use one from their pool of tenders, they'll have to build another...

Even though, it is preserved, it still has to be restored for future mainline operations
@AltondigitalimageАй бұрын
Very unlikely that it will ever go mainline
@anthonydowden32529 ай бұрын
i trust the wheel lathe guaged the tyres correctly then no problem riding points and curves
@1701_FyldeFlyer10 ай бұрын
Was the rear pony truck out of gauge due to its temporary appearance? Looked like it was an inch coming off the track at one point.
@mattlander911910 ай бұрын
Looks like it might have been seized up a bit after years of storage so didn't like going round that point
@spankflaps13659 ай бұрын
Optical illusion from zooming at an angle. There are 2 rails together on that point section, the wheel flange is running (correctly) on the rail which is farthest away.

What about 34073 249 Squadron? I know that 34073 249 Squadron is awaiting restoration and is acting as a donor locomotive to 34067 Tangmere
