the bot was on level 1.5 at best near the end to close the game, but probably level .5 probably tho. level 0 is basically random moves and it wasnt that random.

Either that game's A.I. was EXTREMELY easy, or, Mikochi did satisfactorily well for someone who's never played. I choose to believe Mikochi demonstrated Elite-o easy difficulty gaming.

I can understand how knights might feel eldritch if you know literally nothing about chess. I am surprised there are people who now nothing about chess tho, like of course there are many people who haven't played chess but I kinda expected people who have access to the internet to have heard about the basics a little even they have never played it.

@@gokbay3057 I know plenty of people who don't know the names of the pieces, which colour starts, or what moves the pieces can make. Recently I met someone 20 or younger and they've never played a video game. They've just never been interested in it. I say this just because to that day I don't think I really acknowledged that people completely out of my typical social circles could have 0 connections to things in my areas of interest. As in I always thought it was natural for anyone under 20 nowadays to be proficient with laptops/PC's and smart phones, but there's actually many who aren't.

No, that's the wrong pawn. The Queen's gambit opens with White Pawn E2 to E4, Black Pawn E7 to E5, White Queen D1 to H5, Black King E8 to E7, White Queen H5 to E5, which checkmates the black player. It's called a gambit because you open with a risky move.

Technically it doesn't have to be Queen (I have read there are situations where knight is more helpful) but yeah it is usually queen because why would you get rook or bishop? Those are just like a queen but worse.

@@gokbay3057 In some VERY rare position, promoting to a queen could lead to stalemate because the king have nowhere to go (not necessarily immediate, could be forced stalemate). Hence, to lead to checkmate, sometimes underpromoting to a rook or a bishop is necessary

🤦 It's been a few years since I played chess, but even I saw that move 11 was an elite blunder. After you successfully fend off the attacking queen, you have to sacrifice those two rightmost pawns and summon Blue Eyes White Dragon before black fully controls the center.
