I saw all but one of these movies. I know I read all of the books. My girlfriend and I waited until the green mile was consolidated into one book to read it. I read it all on Thanksgiving when I had to work a double all night shift on a very boring job. The movie came out soon after and we both saw it as soon as we could. We both cried more than once. That and Shawshank Redemption can make me do that today.

Yeah, but some of those are pretty good, if a little dated. The original The Stand miniseries was great, and so was the original Salem's Lot and It. Sometimes They Come Back (ignore the sequels) was good. I still maintain that Children of the Corn and Graveyard Shift aren't as bad as people make them out to be. The Mangler is well made. Some old TV shows like the 1985 Twilight Zone and Monsters had some interesting adaptations of his short stories, as did the recent TNT miniseries Nightmares and Dreamscapes. But you're right, many of the others are pretty blah.

I could see that, and, if at all possible, have King do the screenplay, OR, have him CHOOSE a writer to do the screenplay. Then, let him have a hand in the editing. At least, then, it'd be as close as possible, to his vision of the story.

You forgot to acknowledge Michael Clarke Duncan's fantastic Acting in The Green Mile. It basically jump-started his career and shot him into near instant Superstardom. All the way up till his sad untimely Death. Sure he wasn't always the best actor, though I would argue he was at the least Consistently above average, with the exception of maybe a couple films that I can kind of remember... Though I also do remember that in those cases it was definitely more about poor writing and production and not really about Duncan not doing a good or even great job. Plus, it has to be acknowledged that for a man of Duncan's size and stature to manage to avoid being typecast as "The Large Brut", " The Giant whom the Hero must face", "The Feared Gangsta Thug" or only being cast in Horror Films for his massive size and then covered in FX Makes up or a mask, it is absolutely a statement of his acting ability and range. He had a difficult role in Green Mile as he had to show vulnerability , yet more than simply Fear or Impotent Rage or Frustration due to the fact that it was Clearly racism and bias due to his massive size that intimidated the Racist Hicks in the community he lived in. Which was definitely part of the emotional stew he had to cook up. It was the fact that he was also playing someone who was feeble minded and had an obvious arrested development as a result of it, and the unbelievable amount of Abuse he suffered growing up. As his own family and community must have feared him as well. Probably not for his size, but his ability. It's likely that their religious beliefs led them to believe he had demonic powers. So he had The Emotion was coming not from frustration or fear in the way an average adult might be dealing with. It was coming from someone who had a child like perspective of things due to the retardation of his mental faculties and arrested development likely caused by childhood trauma. And he had to do it Tastefully to boot!! That is a difficult role for the most experienced of Actors!

The Green Mile movie adaptation is unforgettable. Not so much the usual King horror, it's more a brilliant and touching tale of fascinating characters including a mouse ....and redemption of those that 'Walk The Green Mile' to the electric chair on the sides of both good and evil. Michael Clark Duncan (who wins an Oscar for his magnificent portrayal of the enigma that is John Coffey), the prisoner who touches your very soul. This novel and it's movie adaption rate up there as the VERY Best of Both for King . A must see & bring your handkerchiefs.

Stephen King did not write the Cyber God it was written by Leonard and Gimel Everett, King did however write a short story called the Lawn mower man, but this story had nothing to do with the film, the change of title was a deliberate cash grab. When it was released King disavowed himself from it and tried unsuccessfully to have the name of the film changed to avoid confusion with his story. Sleepwalkers is an original screen play by King, not an adaptation.

Lawnmower man isn't supposed to be on this list. It is nothing, nothing at all like the short story. It was just someone making money off his name. The real story is nothing about computers it's about a fat guy getting naked and eating the lawn. Dark Tower is a joke you can't cram 7 extremely long books into a 2 hour movie. You could replaced those with Mercy (2014) is based on his short story Gramma. It's loosely based but at least it's closer than Lawnmower Man. Needful Things, Delores Claiborne would of fit better. Do a list of his other adaptions, there's lots of good work out there. Rose Red, Salem's Lot, Storm of the Century, Creepshow..... Tales from the Darkside (both the movie and the TV show), Kingdom Hospital etc....

There's only one or two of King's movies that I "don't care for"... "Big Driver", "Cell", and "The Dark Tower" are a few that I don't particularly enjoy. But I gotta admit,, MOST of them are pretty darn good!! Especially the CLASSICS like "Maximum Overdrive" (who King himself directed while coked outta his mind)!! It sucked at the time to some people. But it's SO beloved by the fans of my generation as a "cult classic"!!

The mist is probably true stuff too. I can see once you leave our world its just darkness and creatures out there. I wouldn't be surprised. Lots of stories ANF movies has this idea in them. Definitely right off hp lovecraft stories has this in them and movies like Hellboy or like prince of darkness or clover field movies. Either creatures from a space in between worlds or from another world like in clover field. The creatures from the mist is similar to the clover field monster lol.

Bro the editing in this. Dude re-reads like 3+ lines, Dolans Cadillac and Firestarter were the most blatant examples. So much of this list is clearly taken from wikipedia pages, probably written by youtube script writers who haven't seen the movies or read the books, which is fine. But, all the comments that are like "oh my god wow what a deeply detailed interesting list" are kinda off base. Guess it might be if you haven't seen most/all of these movies but here and there, there are definite mistakes and a few extremely vague entries or sections/reviews that are almost word for word jacked from other reviews. I still watched the whole thing, don't get me wrong, it was fine, but c'mon y'all don't jack this video off for just doing a basic recap of all of King's adaptions

Finally, someone on here with some critical thinking. The video wasn't terrible, but it was nothing special either. I like they say "every Stephen King adaptation" and the proceed to miss about half of them. The repeating line thing was also very distracting. A couple of times I thought my cat had stepped on the keyboard. It was also weird how he didn't even bother listing the cast for a few of the movies. If I were a teacher, I'd give it a C+ overall since I've seen better from this channel. This feels like a normally decent student turning in work they clearly did the night before at the last minute.

how can you list max overdrive and forget: . Needful Things, Tommyknockers, Golden Years, the Langoliers and, especially the Stand. Man I never realized just how big this list is... I guess in hindsight your memory of those items I mentioned is forgiven, mainly because I am slowly recalling quite a few more still.

What bothers me about many King adaptations is the huge difference between book and movie. For example Running Man shares only a few superficial things with the book, like names, that is in fact a game show and the title. The Dark Tower tried (and failed imo) to compress 7 books into one movie, which is impossible. I really wanted to like that movie, since I love the DT opus, but...well. Also, some of these movies are definitely not worth a watch, despite being praised in this video. The original It should be in the list (Tim Curry as Pennywise is priceless) as well as Needful Things. And although not movies but mini series, I'd add Rose Red, Storm of the Century and Kingdom Hospital.
