Thank you Patrick, I really appreciate you watching and the positive feedback. I know the video was long. To hard to put meaningful content in a short video. Block was a challenge for sure. But been there many times. Have a great day.👍👍

Good morning Ed. Interesting, the amount of prep that must happen before the line honing can even begin. Another great example of the importance of checking every detail.

Hello Ed, You get a lot of work done. I have my heads back on my mower but still about 2-3 hours more work to get it running. I really should have power washed it BEFORE I took it apart. I have had to do a lot of extra cleaning. One thing I know, it will run very well. Take care Brother 😊

Good Morning Ed. Great job on the line hone, I wonder why the 2 center bores wanted to grow so much? Have a great day
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Good morning Randy, thanks I appreciate you watching and the positive feedback. When you cut the caps, you try and get them as close as you can. But remember you are dealing that you're dealing with a bore where the mains are out of alinement. The rear main is over 2x larger than the other mains. So the mandrel pressure is different. So the the 2 mains in question got to size a little faster than the others. By only .0003 tenths. It's a process, every job is different. Have a great day.👍👍
@JoeZZZ73V2 ай бұрын
Nice attention to detail! As long as you are align boring the mains and using new ARP bolts, I'm surprised you didn't just purchase ARP main studs? Thoughts on that? Again, nice job. Looking forward to seeing this motor put together by Just Mopar Joe.
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Hey Joe, thank you for watching and commenting. Studs are not necessary for this application. The bolts are fine. Higher Horsepower, high RPM then install studs. Strokers, studs are nice. Have a good evening. 👍

Ed do you have any young fellas showing any interest whatsoever in learning the automotive machine shop trade? The few shops left in our era are backed up with work but they can’t seem to find any younger people who want to work and learn the trade. Appreciate the content.👍
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Thanks Prevost, I appreciate you watching and commenting. The simple answer to your question is. No! No apprentices, no one wants to learn. I will not take on the responsibility for this again. There is no desire to learn and pay your dues. Have a great day.👍👍

ED what is your opinion/toughts on the oiling modification in the small block mopar lifter oil gallery drilling a installation of the cross over pipe to feed the #1 main bearing I’ve seen on KZfaq people are doing. Thanks 🙏 for sharing this video
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Hello John, thanks for watching and commenting. To be honest, I've never done that modification. I think it is a good upgrade. Never had to do it for my street and occasional strip use. I am probably going to be doing this modification on a small block for myself later this year. If you think that the level of performance Requires the modification, then doit. Have a great day.

Thanks for showing your setup for grinding the side of the caps. When you measure the bores do you take measurements from 3 different spots?

These vids are like a master class. Ed, under what conditions do you usually recommend someone get a "line hone" done ? Thanks
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Thanks Shane, I appreciate you watching. I would say .0004/.0005 variance in main bearing housing bore. And always more than .0015 with a straightedge. That's a good place to start. Not all Linehone jobs are the same. Some of the work out there you certainly need to avoid, it will be worse than factory specs. Have a good evening.

Lots of great info here, does line boring make the timing chain a little loose? Keep the videos coming
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Thanks John, I appreciate you watching. Usually the timing chain is fine. I have seen loose chains. But I usually only grind about .005 off of caps. So the reduction in the centerline is minimal. They make reduced centerline chain and gear sets for for popular engines if needed to restore fit. Have a good day.
@doughelmle65752 ай бұрын
How does that affect the rear main seal? and how much was removed ? A tenh and a half ? would most guys do this ? not sure .
@edsmachine932 ай бұрын
Hi Doug, thanks for watching and commenting. When I machine the caps I remove enough to make the main bearing housing bore about .0045/.005 small. Then hone back out to the standard housing bore size. The reduction of centerline is minimal. The new seal works fine. Have a good evening. 👍
