Learn how to create a 360 virtual tour with flash and a DSLR for crisp colors and clear views outside using techniques similar to other interior real estate photography. Below are pertinent links and additional notes:
My real estate photography series:

The finished 360 pano from this tutorial:

Previous video:
• Interior, all-ambient ...
My video on 50-50 flash-ambient blending:
• Rapid Interiors Proces...
Additional Notes:
1. Note the green color cast in the video that doesn't show up in the flashed shots, cast from the green grass in the backyard. The flashed "base" layer took care of this, where ambient-only would have struggled with post processing. This, btw, also makes the examples overlaid on the video look more red...they aren't...it's just the difference in color (less green appears more red).
2. Focus, as with the prior videos, was set to infinity, typical of using any wide angle lens, especially this Samyang 12mm which is a manual focus lens.
3. As for gear, please see prior videos, which cover most of this. And of course I have details on all of that in the virtual tour book as well.
4. If you don't have a white ceiling to bounce the flash, consider this Magmod: amzn.to/32hiuE7

Whoa, my head is spinning after watching all of your 360 virtual tour videos, lol. Not that you did a bad job explaining it, you were great as always. Just a lot to take in all at once so I’ll definitely be buying your virtual tour book. I think I have all of your books now! Lol. Your level of knowledge and your ability to teach all this skills is insane to me. Just a few random questions though cause I’m genuinely curious lol. What’s the largest home you’ve ever had to shoot where the realtor wanted an entire 360 virtual walkthrough using this flambient method of the entire house, and how long did that take? When you’re hired for huge jobs like that, do you ever have to work on a single property for more than one day? Cause I’d imagine if you’re taking regular flambient shots, and then on top of that having to do 360 virtual tour photography, that would be too much to possibly get done in one day. Anyway, great content as always Nathan. Thanks again so much. :)

Would love it if you posted an example where you did Theta V, Theta Z, DSLR and flambient all on the same room, so we could compare the results of the different workflows. I'd also like to see built in HDR results from Theta's and maybe a three shot ambient bracket with the DSLR. It would be nice to compare what is possible with different levels of equipment and different levels of time commitment.
@NathanCoolPhoto

Great idea! Although the Theta V is nowhere even close to the Z1 or DSLR, so that drops off my radar...it's not even a contender :) I touch on that in the new e-book where I also show comparisons of the Z1 to the DSLR for the same room. Hi Nathan, thanks for this very nice video. I´m very interested in this type of flambient shooting. For the speed of the capturing workflow it seems to be faster to go first with the ambient 4 shot row and after that go for the flash row? Will avoid the flash switch on/off and changing camera settings alll the time that slows down the process, doesn´t it?
@NathanCoolPhoto
@NathanCoolPhoto 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's a 6 in one hand, half-dozen in the other, but I'd still recommend the method I show here over what you suggested. If you're accustomed to the flambient workflow in post (for other REP work) then what I show in this video is best since it orders the images the same way, versus fishing through images farther down the filmstrip. Also, the method you suggest would assume that each rotation of the pano head would maintain alignment of the ambient-flash-window shots, which I can bet they won't, at least not as well if you kept the pano head in one spot while gather the flash and ambient shots in that more steady position. I also have more detailed steps concerning this in my virtual tour guide, here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/30p97zK

Watching this video after reading your book makes the process so much clearer...thanks! I did an ambient-only 360 in my house and it looked great EXCEPT the white balance was terrible! Are some realtors OK with ambient-only? Also, I have been using the AD-S2 reflector on my AD200 for all my RE shoots. Do you recommend the fresnel head like you use in this video instead of the AD-S2?

Hi Nathan, awesome videos! You had mentioned in a previous video that you use the Nodal Ninja 6 pano head. I'm getting into real estate photography and intend to use my Nikon D5 and Nikon 16 to 35mm F4, at least for now. In your opinion, do you think the Nodal Ninja 6 will support the weight of this beastly camera, or do I need to step up to the larger Ninja? I've scoured the internet and have not come up with any definitive answers as to the Ninjas's capacity.
@NathanCoolPhoto
@NathanCoolPhoto 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The lens is the issue if you want fast virtual tours, make a small investment in a fisheye to make this easier (16 isn't wide enough for speed/less shooting), here's a link to the Samyang I use on my Nikon FFs (D610): amzn.to/32u5b3c

You've likely over-processed the edges. You can either remove some of the processing at each side of the pano, or just fix it using cube faces in PTGui.

Hey Nathan, I still seem to be getting random blue gradients on the ceilings/walls after mixing the Luminosity Ambient overtop the Normal Flash layer. Any tips on how to fix it? 🤔 I've had to remove the blue after flattening either still in Photoshop or while in Lightroom after saving *Edit* also, i noticed that some of your window pulls have different white balance from the Ambient. Nathan, I bought the single-pin Hot Shoe Adapter you talk about in your book to mitigate the white balance issues with triggers. I am using the Godox xProF controller for my Fuji x-T10 which I am using for 360. I’m finding the flash system works for about 2 flashes, then it quits working altogether. If I remove the Adapter and connect the xProF directly to my camera, all works fine. Do you think my Fuji camera is the issue and that Cannon or Nikon would work better? If I ran a cable from the adapter to the controller, do you think that would help? Thanks! Jim Ruse
@NathanCoolPhoto
@NathanCoolPhoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, sounds like the adapter isn't keeping a solid fit in the hot shoe of the camera, or its hot shoe isn't making a solid fit with the trigger. Might try a different adapter...they're made from plastic so sometimes things don't fit as well.
