Sabrosa, is part of the Douro Vinhateiro region, in the Cima Corgo sub-region, centered on Pinhão. Of the three sub-regions of the Douro Vinhateiro; Douro Superior, Cima Corgo and Baixo Corgo, this is the one that produces the most wine, both port wine and table wines.
With the creation of the oldest wine region in the world in 1756, Quintas dedicated to the production of Port wine for export to England and other European countries appeared in the Douro. In this context, manor houses with coats of arms appear and proliferate, mainly in this municipality of Sabrosa.
