Although the footage is in standard definition, shot on 8mm tape and relatively poor quality I thought visitors to the Wensleydale Railway HD channel might be interested to see one our most recent arrivals in action on the mainline.
Taken on the evening of the 7th of June in 1999, it shows ex Gateshead stalwart 37250 hauling the 18.22 Holyhead to Brimingham New Street out of Stafford and Wolves. A number of "standards" and "heavyweight" tractors were deputising for a good part of that week for the more usual 37/4s one of which had just lost something important along the coast! My notes show that 37298, 37675 and 37798 were performing similar duties that week. There was much fun to be had!
37250 was a regular through my home town of Cramlington in the 1980s and is now being restored at the Wenslyedale Railway. She will hopefully be back in action very soon.
