Just started watching this video and felt bad that my video came out right before this - this sort of thing happens to me all the time, hah. Few KZfaq commenters take into consideration how long videos take to script, render and upload. So many people said I copied ymfah on a similar thing..when mine came out like a few hours after his. It would have been impossible to copy a video that fast lol Sorry if any of my viewers accuse you of the same.

A tip I haven't seen anyone mention is how weather actually affects your stats. When it's raining, being wet actually increases your fire damage negation, and reduces your lightning damage negation, by 10%.

The statues that lead you to places dont lead you to shortcuts and secrets, only nearby crypts. There are also ghostly candle trees that will lead you to hidden caves, usually hiding important or strong items

If you have the warming stone equipped your mimic will use it in battle, which you can use to heal. And it doesn’t count against your inventory

It will use anything in the equip slots. The warming stones are useless and it wont help in the middle of a battle because you would need to stand still for like 10 seconds

If you acquire Margit's Shackle via buying it from Patches (or the Maiden in Round Table if you killed Patches) for 5,000 runes, you can use it to open illusory walls, and lower the flamethrower pillars you find in dungeons. Hell, you can even use it to destroy 2 chariots in the Auriza Hero's Grave dungeon if used in the right place. It's also an unlimited use item and uses no FP as well so you can just keep spamming it if you wanted.

You can shoot the flame pillars with an arrow and that also lowers them. Really no need to deal with these things at all

Correcrion: Plunging attacks still are in the game, they have just been moved from R1 to R2! By holding R2 while jumping, you will do the "infinite" plunging attack previous souls games had!

The same applies to running attacks. The greatswords still have that cool spin and the katanas still have their stab, they have just been moved to R2.

certain weapons still dont have them i think, but most do, and for some reason halberds have the infinite one on r1 still and r2 is the sweep

And even jumping r1 gets the dmg boost from being a plunging attack and also get the better stagger. The just look like a normal attack.

Very useful fact: Giant hands (and the small ones too but who cares about them) monsters are weak to fire, but unlike most enemies that will just take more damage, those hands will have a unique animation where they roll on the ground to extinguish the fire, making them vulnerable for at least 5 seconds and dealing continuous damage

Yeah I loved that animation lol, fire arrows for the win in that area. Btw I seen he mentioned the stone enemies in the mines are weak to blunt and magic damage, but if you just two hand your sword it won't bounce off and actually slice through

I believe If you see falling golden petals in the area you are in you get increased drop rate of runes. Also, if an enemy has glowing gold eyes they will drop more runes as well.

The petals buff the hidden luck stat "discovery" so it also improves item drop chance

I did my first play through without looking anything up. I played super thoroughly just combing through all corners and stuff and doing as much as I can but i still missed so much somehow. Despite trying my best to do npc quests on my first play through i only completed alexanders

@@techknow9237 why is it a problem? I mean, it would be helpful to have a log to keep track of NPC quests and dialogue , but hidden or obfuscated content is one of the coolest aspects of fromsoft games post-dark souls

@@robwaters2948 I mean by the quests being so abstract and NPC placed at locations that can be so easily missed as there isn't much information that helps or hints the locations. Even a couple of the tower puzzles are so abstract that impossible to figure out.

You can actually just heal torrent by feeding him rowa raisins rather than wasting your estus flask for him when you're at full health. Just put some in a quick equip slot and you can feed em to him while riding around.

i found that the raisins are hardly ever worth the slot they occupy, unless you're low on flasks, which you're usually not if you've collected enough golden seeds.

Just put them in the slot that doesn’t have a quick access button. One of the slots that you have to press pause to get to. But when both you and torrent are both low in HP using an estus is worth it because he will receive some healing from it to, benefitting you both.

Healing yourself with your flask never heals torrent anyways, raisins are torrents primary healing item.

FYI, for the miner enemies that are weak to magic, if you use a fire attack against the enemies with a sack on their backs, they will explode and damage nearby enemies

Yeah, and all of them are weak to: Blunt and fire damage. Also weak against Sorcery but not against Magic damage at all ✌️

It's a good use for those cracked pots. Make the fire ones and they are great for igniting them. The cracked pots are basically craftable grenades, useful for enemies weak against a particular damage type.

The exploding only works for the ones with red rocks on their back, the blue etc don’t explode with fire

additional notes about the eredition gesture. They also break seals at 2 different towers. Also, mausoleums will rest late at night allowing you to enter without having to attack the skull/barnicles on their feet!

Notably, you don't need the gesture for the Coverted Fringe Tower: You can just climb the wall outside and jump to the balcony with Torrent. I had no idea what the riddle meant when I got there the first time and thought that was the way you were supposed to get inside.

Just a small but very useful addition. The beast repelant torch also repels those nasty basilisks that spit death blight farts. You still get the 'programmed' jump scares, but they stop attacking afterwards. Quite useful!

If you see footprints running around, it's a beetle that's invisible. Timing your attack and hitting the footprints at the head will kill the scarab and likely give you an ash of war. :)

Just stand on its way on your horse and hold r2 (heavy atk), you will lower your weapon to a damaging state and thus no timing needed.

if you're a mage just use the magic swords barrage that surrounds you and attack the Beatle automatically

I just use Dragonfire which lets me burn anything in a large radius in front of me. Burn everything to ashes, just the way I like it with my Firzana Firemane inferno waifu

Holding the down/up button will bring you to the beginning of your items. So, if you want to switch quickly to the beginning of your spells/consumables list, you dont have to press them continuosly to cycle

Don’t forget the Sentry Torch you can get from the Hermit Merchant! It reveals invisible enemies, even if it’s on your back while you’re two-handing another weapon! You also don’t have to meet the stat requirements for it to work, it only affects the damage, which honestly doesn’t matter… unless you’re going with a torch only run?

What a lot of people don’t know is the Baldachin’s blessing which takes off -5% of your max HP doesn’t just give you +30% poise, but +30% to all damage resistance too. It doesn’t show in the description for some reason, but it has been tested!

It only reduces your vigor by one point, not a percentage of health, and it's restored as soon as you use the consumable. The drawback is negligible and entirely overblown.

@@StormcallR I'm not sure if there's something else going on or not, if it's something between a point or a percentage, but I know I definitely don't lose anywhere near that much when I've accepted it. The difference in my health between holding it and using it at 31 vigor is little more than a chip.

The nomadic merchants as a people have already suffered too much (being banished to the underground tomb) and are already being hunted by the Ball-Bearing Hunter. It is unforgivable for the Tarnished to kill them as well.

Another tip is to notice the colour of the item drop light. If it's white in colour, then the item you are gonna receive is a common item. Blue light means rare item and yellow light means legendary item

Just don't get close to any dog with red eyes, because the torch doesn't work with them or any beast with red eyes and they are faster than the normal ones.

It is late, but I'll add a slight correction: not all holy damage will permanently kill undead enemies, but only incantations sold by D and the ash of war sacred blade. I'm not sure if there are more, but it will be noted in the description that it is effective against those who live in death. If it's not mentioned, it won't prevent the skeletons from getting back up.

Bewitching Branch, a consumable that turns foes to ally. It is helpful in fighting AI invader which you can't summon Spirit Ash. I used it on a big dog to fight Bell Bearing Hunter Caelid. 😂

Smart, I know exactly the spot you mean and that dog always bugs me during that fight. In Ds2 I loved seed of a tree of giant's, turns enemies against invaders for this same reason.

Btw: the glowing stone heads are used in a few puzzles so I highly recommend getting the gesture and head. The once I've come across give memory slots but there might be some I don't know about.

@@pringleboyo2460 From what I recall, the one Bjami is referring to doesn't require the gesture, yeah. There are a few others that will give you a challenge if you stand outside the front door, and one in particular I remember that you'll have to be clever and find an alternate route into.

There is a tower nearby the madness village that opens with an erudition gesture + the stone head. You get 2 legendary spells i think

You can also heal Torrent by feeding him berries (crafted from Rowa Fruit). You will eventually have hundreds of Fruits from exploring the openworld, so just use them instead of the flask.

Blood hounds fang has a double special attack. The first, which is widely known, is the attack where you swing the blade and do a back step, the second teleports you in front of the enemy and deals a significant amount more than if not equal to the first move. In order to do this, you must use your special button and then heavy attack.

Tip: You can find the locations of maps you haven't discovered yet by walking into a new zone then looking on the map for a very small pillar looking icon in the undiscovered region which is where that zone's map will be.

The thing about cracked pots not being consumed made me so much more likely to use firebombs in this game than any other. Any time I get a new cracked pot I'm actually excited because firebombs allow you to safely deal with enemies much more dangerous than you normally can for your current level, and the more pots you have the less times you have to let combat break to recraft more.

I love the pots you craft from the volcanic stone it's cheap and plentiful. It works like a termite grenade from cod or apex.

I could have sworn that I used them before and now they are just gone, and I can't find any more. I used like 3 or 4 fire pots and now the cracked pots are gone from my inventory so I literally never use pots like I would have before, thinking they were not that hard to acquire or craft.

This game is just on a whole different level from past Souls games. I've been playing every day since release and still feel like I haven't seen 1/2 of what the game has going on. Every area on the huge map has vast underground areas with smaller catacombs, grave sites and mines branching off. Mind blowingly deep.

But it's boss fights feel bit too easy, I guess it does help welcome new players. Lot of unbalanced and easily accessible weapons.

@@phantomberzerk9486 Personally i welcome the easyness, as a souls vet. If it was as ball-bustingly hard as, say, DeS, it would make exploring the world so much more tedious as you'd be dying a hell of a lot more. The bosses get the same treatment, otherwise it'd be a pretty apperant - and bad - difficulty spike. There are still some insanely hard bosses that rival the brutalist ones of old; Melania, Margit, Elden Beast (really wish more bosses had mechanics where you have to jump tho), Crucible Knights (i know they become basic enemies later on but there still really hard bosses) just to name a few. Plus, hopefully for once, fromsoft can actually strike a balance between magic and melee; when that is struck, i think the whole game will be harder as a result, and this is the closest they have *ever* been to hitting it. A bit more info on the beast-repellant torch: * It works while mounted if it's in your off-hand, even though it's not really out. * It works on basilisks, causing them to not use their instant-death mist. * It works on all types of rats (normal, giant, or madness-afflicted). * It works on dogs, stopping them from barking to alert other NPCs and crippling their ability to chase. * It works on grounded non-humanoid bats. They'll stay on the ground for longer and just hiss at you. Airborne ones or the women-bats are unaffected. * It works on the snails, causing them to not use their charge attack or ground-breath attack * It works on non-scripted, non-boss wolves. "Scripted" largely means the one or two times in the game where they made wolf-traps that ambush you from tall grass or a wolf that summons additional wolves by howling. "Boss" wolves is the red wolf of radagan and clones of it. * It works on rams, making them switch to (nearly) the same run-away behavior as the sheep. Only difference is that they still count you as being in combat. * It works on the giant dogs in the Caelid. They'll hop away and only retaliate once if attacked. * As mentioned, it also works on regular bears, but not the boss variant. From testing, it doesn't seem to have any effect on demihumans, jellyfish, land octopi or its babies, land squirts, birds of any kind, insects of any kind, or prey animals outside of rams. I have not yet beaten the game, so there are likely additional beast-like creatures that I've not yet run up against.

While testing how Margit and Mohg’s Shackeks reveal hidden walls, I’ve realized that they also lower and raise the Imp fire traps… This happened even when the traps were on a lower level or at ridiculously far distances on the same level.

With the twin husk statue that you can give the NPC bells to and open their shops there... if I was the developer, I'd make it a point that if someone killed all the merchants and brought all those bells back... the Twin husks would become a VERY tough boss that's basically there to punish you for killing all the merchants.

OR!! make the Firelink Maiden approach by basically rise the price of the items. Since the maiden can revive but she will had the price of the items raised for everytime you killed her. The only bypass if is the bell given willingly. Like Tops, Rogier or D. Even some mods add the option to give the bell willingly to use it in the Round Table instead.

3:35 another important torch to consider using is the sentry torch which allows you to see invisible enemies. This is really useful against black knife enemies who really like to take advantage of you not seeing them and stab you in the back repeatedly... This does also let you see invisible dung Beatles as well as lock on to any invisible enemies

@@Saiege Because you rolled in it. The game has a "WET" affect. If you roll in water you get "WET". While "WET" you take increased lighting dmg and reduced fire dmg. Rain will make you wet as well. Rolling in Poison or Rot will also make you poison wet or rot wet. While wet with poison or rot you will slowly build up poison or rot until you Dry. Using Soap removes the Poison or Rot Wet affect and removes the build up effect (doesn't remove the current build up just further buildup from being Poison or Rot Wet) Standing in Water also gives the same increase in lighting dmg and reduction of fire dmg as being wet. And they stack so you can be wet and standing in water and you will take lots of lighting dmg, and take a lot less fire dmg.

Helpful note for the armor thing. click in left stick to access the sort menu, allowing sorting by type (default) order acquired, weight, damage negation, or resistance. to add onto that by selecting the sort method with a will display them in ascending order (smallest-largest) but if you use the x button they will be ordered in descending order (largest-smallest) this is for an xbox controller btw

The npcs who made a name killing merchants are called the bell bearers and can be found in various locations by waiting until night and then resting one more time at the grace then they will spawn and drop a unique bell once defeated, i have found 5 of them. A pretty tough one is found at the hill in caelid with a merchant and all the dogs at the northwestish area near the devine tower

Just to add a note on the crouching attacks, they can be particularly useful with colossal swords. With a colossal sword your crouch attack will be a thrust that is quicker than your normal attacks, so quickly crouching and attacking is a good way to get a faster attack in when a normal light attack is too slow.

Crouching attack is the same as rolling attack, so if an enemy has very little openings you can abuse that by dodge rolling and immediately doing the thrust attack, very useful against Crucible Knights as they attack fast and have very little openings especially in the second phase.

One thing people dont seem to talk about is how useful the whip is against rock types, allows for quick attacks and you can stay further back to avoid hits. It is my go to weapon for any cave adventure, also torches will just destroy rock people!

Lots of enemies target your horse, not you so it takes a ton of damage and you’re wasting flasks to heal it when the berries are there to be crafted for the horse to heal and you’ll need the flasks yourself later when you’re the target. I mean, using the flask is convenient in a tight spot during a boss battle but other than that I never use it to heal the horse

A really big one was when you were covering the miners. There are two types, look out the the ones using a pickaxe as they are weak to fire and explode, also these types are likely to have a very useful boss who drops a bell bearing and well, if you want to maximize your equipments potential it's worth searching for these bearing.

the wisdom gesture + a glintstone crown is a way to remove seals or make invisable objects visable too. so far i know 2 palces where this gesture is used. in west liurnia there is the converted tower. perferm the gesture infront of the statue and a ladder will appear, allowing access to the top. in the north east of liurnia there is the converter boardertower, with a white foggate. perform the gesture infront of it and it will open up.

Good tip for sorcerers: If you are using the Rock Sling spell, hold your staff in your left hand. This will cause two of the rocks to have zero drop, allowing you to hit enemies from maximum lock-on range.

You don't need the telescope to move slightly on Torrent, you just need to hold the "walk" button. It's "Alt" on keyboard, if you're on controller, go to the keys menu and it'll be the top option

Another tip is you can stand on/near the cracked statue and log out and back in, as logging in you get max weight as a safeguard for a moment Incase your stuck inside of something where you logged. It's way easier then needing enemies to hit it and such lol.

We do have a plunge in the form of the jumping heavy. The aerial repertoire has expanded, as we now have light and heavy, jumping bow, and I know some dragon incantations can be used in the air. Cracked pots are incredibly powerful. They all scale with the stat that boosts their elemental damage. Fire pots vs erdtree avatars will deal 500 damage on a low level character, since they scale with A str/C dex!! With 7 or so pots, every early avatar can be killed while mounted with just fire pots and a couple pokes with fire grease. There's a reason we are given the fire pot recipe early.

My favorite tip is throwing rainbow rocks. If they break, you’ll die from the fall, but if they don’t you’ll live. Equip them like the flasks and use them.

It's the same as a jumping R2. Plunging stacks in previous games got a huge damage bonus. While you still get a damage (and poise break) bonus with a jumping attack, the "plunging" part in this game doesn't receive the huge bonus it did in previous Souls games, unless it's a special like with the Furnace enemies. So ya, it's a plunging attack, but not in the traditional sense.

So the one addition that Elden Ring makes that got me to finally drop parrying all together are Guard Counters. I was always a shield player but for parrying reasons. With Guard Counters and the Posture system from Sekiro critical attacks and posture breaking is so fricking effective. I lost the need to parry and do more dmg.

This was my first Souls game, and I spent about 50 hours using sword and shield before actually figuring out guard counters :/ and another 50 hours before I actually read the text on rapiers and similar weapons which clearly say you can thrust attack while still blocking. Man I felt dumb lol

Ive literally never taken the time to master parries since ds1 hah,nor did i suffer for it.Sure it could have made a few fights with enemies easier, but still. The gamble of maybe getting a parry compared to guarding and attacking just wasnt worth it. But yes, the guard counters in this game i use often! Just have to learn attack patterns rather than i-frames for parries. i think parries are way more forgiving (wider gap for parrying an attack)in elden ring too though.But even still, parrying wont save you in every situation.

1:10 if you wonder if there are more of this walls there is for sure one more near this one (that's why I think this is bug or FS didn't change objects values after tests in this location). If you wonder if there is more because you see message about hidden path then just stand next to wall and reload game, upon loading you will not spawn where you were but you will be "pushed" away from wall. This is because respawning destroys nearby objects to prevent you from getting stuck but it seems like FromSoft don't want you to be destroy hidden wall by accident just because you reloading game. It has something to do with not just object but area near wall because if you reload in opening after destroying hidden wall, effect will be the same but it doesn't not work this way in normal doorways.

It's not a bug. You're supposed to use Ghiza's wheel on it. The weapon art hits for exactly the right amount of damage without multiple attacks, and you get it in the same area. I have no idea why no one has figured this out yet.

@@EdwardLorn That wall was probably used in an earlier version of the game as a legit invisible wall, and instead of making it a proper wall they just gave it a huge amount of HP, sure its not a bug but its not intended for the player to uncover it, and its probably gonna get patched up.

The beast repellent torch repels the dino dogs in Caelid, it might also work on the birds but, I didn't test that.

Hidden walls are one thing, but now they've added invisible floors which you need to jump attack to reveal areas to underground cellars. There's even an invisible bridge when you get to the Giants Mountain area leading to a tower with some items. The bridge takes turns though so you have to follow the snow trail on the bridge so you don't fall off.

I advise against killing NPCs for bell bearings because you'll miss questline things and rewards. One example is the gesture from Kale to befriend Blaidd from early game, and having his help for the only NPC possible in an Evergaol. You need to first hear Blaidd's howl and revisit Kale. You'd also miss the improved purchase of the Blackguard guy who sells prawns from his moved location in Lyndell if you killed him in Liurnia, and you'd also miss Dung Eater's ending/questline. Prophet guy who looks for Goldmask increases shop after each location you find him, and going all the way through you also are gifted things from Goldmask, but won't see either if you go NPC killing. You'll also miss the incentive to revisit some locations of NPCs at night and end up fighting a bell bearing hunter as an open world boss.

the fake wall with 9999 hp was a mistake the devs said so. they moved the illusionary wall and forgot to set that wall to invincible.

Ye this one was probably meant to be one and was hotfixed to 9999hp when moved But they forgor 💀

It's funny. Cause I saw that wall from the tunnel side, and thought for sure it was illusionary. LOL. Turns out I was actually right. I was disappointed when it didn't disappear.

Very nice video! I have around 200 hours in Elden Ring and only knew about a couple of those secrets. About seeing if the nemy has an item on kill: In DS3 you can actually run against an enemy and if u cant run through him he is dropping an item.

Erudition gesture can be used to drop down hidden ladders in certain puzzle towers, when a glintstone crown is equipped.

There are certain mini bosses that only show up at night. Among them is one called the ballbearing hunter. Killing one of theme drops a ball bearing that expands the merchant back at the roundtable with crafting item for arrows, status ailment items, Ect.

Another cool detail I don't think a lot of people know about is that if you crouch while on horseback you will get off of torrent. Which is a lot more convenient than equipping the steed whistle to get off torrent.

Beast repellent torch also works on the big headed dog boys. I don’t know about the crows but it helped me early game getting around

I never understood the purpose of killing the nomads. I just mark them on my map and if it's because of the trek, what about it? You've trekked around for worse things and if you set out to find all the cook books, the need to go back to them every time diminishes. Seriously. Take on the night bosses that drops crafting items like turtle neck meat etc and you can get all the necessary crafting items you would need to craft. This is especially useful if you're a ranger. Since you can't bring 999 arrows, you can bring the necessary materials to make it

I was preparing to start my first NG+ so I ran around killing all the shop keepers.... but you don't keep your Bell Bearings when starting NG+
