I have some vintage glassware that includes some little cups similar to that. I was told they are sherbert cups. Since I don’t serve sherbert very often, I use them for salsa, olives, nuts, sprinkles. . .

It is so tiny, I remember my Grandmother had tiny glass similar to this and they were used for salt, with a small salt spoon at the dinner table, haven’t seen one for over 50 years, I might be wrong, but your tutorial very well done, and the gorgeous jewelry, and the resin cup, outstanding!

Well done, that always was going to be a tricky shape. Demoulding is easier if you put a void in the top of the glass - it has a lot more "give" when you demould then

Before salt and pepper shakers...these little glasses were added to the dinner table. You could easily get a pinch of salt or a dash of pepper. It was all very fancy like having an entire set of silverware...salad fork....main fork...desert fork...etc. You can find these antique stores or thrift shops.

They are vintage palette cleansing bowls. Most commonly used for sherbet. People would serve something to cleanse your palette between courses at a fancy dinner. To prepare your mouth for the change of flavors/courses. Lemon sherbet was most commonly served. Orange sherbet was also popular. Citrus fruits work well at removing stronger flavors that could carry over to another course and alter the true taste of the course. Who wants to eat a decadent dessert that tastes like onion or garlic. 🤔 I love the turtles! 🐢 😍

I think the whole mold making thing is super cool! I have not taken the leap yet to make one, but when I do I’m gonna come back & watch your videos again prior. I learned another new thing in this video… the part about there are different softness levels of the silicone. This is very helpful to know. I also need to do more with inlays. I think I’ll order your shell inlays and do something with those… Love the jewelry!!! 🩵💙

Great video, very informative. I didn’t know Let’s Resin had a soft silicone. I’ve watched Robert Tolone on YT, he’s retired but, he designed and made the Disney character figurines for the Lion King. I’d watched his channel for a couple of years before he mentioned that.😆 He has a lot of mold making videos. When it’s necessary to cut the silicone, he recommends doing it in a jagged line. That way it fits back together sort of like a puzzle piece, that’ll help to prevent a big seam line in your resin piece. Your little dish and jewelry pieces are beautiful!

I inherited a set of 100-year-old cut crystal glasses. They look similar to your little glass. Here in Germany we use them as liqueur glasses for sweet liqueurs which are only consumed in very small quantities. But maybe I will use mine for icecream or other desserts now .
@persephonekraker2399

They are dessert glasses. There's a dessert people ate in the like the 50s I wanna say that was kinda like a shaved ice kinda dessert that had fruit in it and sometimes like coconut and stuff and it looks like little kinda shards of ice. It was make in like a cake kinda pan and frozen and to plate it, they used like a spoon and would scrap across the ice stuff in the pan and that's how they hot like the little shard of ice looking pieces. That's what those cups remind me of because they are dessert cup.

Thank you for this! I didn't realize that there are different hardnesses of silicone, even though I have pre-made molds of all kinds. (Duh) This explains why my attempted cast of a dragon figurine went so badly. But, hey, at least we can cut up failed molds and re-use the silicone! Lesson learned. Thank you! Also, I was inspired by your succulents video the other day and received the molds yesterday. Weekend project! :)

That turned out really cute! Trying to get those things out of mould is a nightmare because of the suction created by the concave of the cup against the silicone… I bet if you can get a hold of the stem and then twist it around with the soapy water or alcohol, it might be easier to get it out of there! Nice job!!!!

I'm leaning towards it being an aperitif glass, aka cordial glass, aka liqueur glass. We have a set of crystal cordial glasses that belonged to my great-grandmother. At least, that's what she called them. They are about that same size (I'm guessing based on how small it appears in your hand) and everything. My great-grandmother had to entertain often because my great-grandfather basically ran an entire mill village on behalf of the mill owner. He also drove the steam engine for the mill. Trains were his true love after his family, of course. If not an aperitif, then I would say a sorbet glass. But those are usually a little wider and taller, I think. What are the measurements? That might help. ❤❤❤

That looks like sorbet dish, OR a very large salt cellar meant for use by everyone at the table (rather than teeny-tiny individual ones), or for on-the-range-top use by the cook. I have tiny, square salt cellars with tiny glass spoons, and tiny sterling silver spoons. They're about 1"x1"x½" tall. Hmmm! Wonder if I should make molds from them?!?
