The "Electric Engine" fixed to the back of the diesel engine(s), as Nick refers to it, is actually a 3 phase AC Motor / Alternator. With the Diesel off (and automatically separated) the MOTOR runs the boat, getting energy from batteries. When the Diesel is on (motor / alternator now auto connects), the AC motor becomes a charger for the batteries. Very efficient. AND, since DC Batteries can be charged from multiple sources at one time (it's a wiring thing), the diesels AND solar panels can charge the batteries even faster than just a single source. BONUS - plugged in to shore Mains, the onboard Inverter/Charger controlling the batteries, will use mains energy to also charge the batteries.

One of the most interesting yachts Nick has presented. Glad to see the transformation to solar and electric is gaining popularity.

So a two-parter, in the dock and on the water, I guess you could call it a Hybrid-review, very appropriate .. Can't wait for part two, Ace !

That is incredible. A cozy boat with enough features and comfort and you say all the electrical can be solar powered thats incredible. That makeshift swim platform is a cool feature.

Wow those side decks are a surpirse! I love how the teak continues from the transom "door" all the way along the side to the foredeck and even the anchor handling gear. Looks very nice

Lots to like here! Very low air draught so no need to worry about low bridges. Great mini-superyacht style side decks with overhangs. Proper teak all the way up to the bow. Drop down transom is the best of both worlds. Big solar panels giving you a quiet, relaxed experience at anchor. Handy hybrid drive which gives a lot of flexibility, especially if you can run only one diesel and have its shaft's motor-generator power the other shaft's equivalent for sustained low speed cruising. The fin keels can help protect the props from grounding as well. Perfect for inland use and probably does well out at sea, too.

Silent electric engine - just the thing for sneaking out of your birth at 4am without paying your dock fees.

First, this is a lovely boat with a quite clever layout. I do like these Greenlines and very happy to see you reviewing one Nick! I will be looking forward to the next vid. This tech is exactly what I would want on my long range cruiser. Imagine a similar setup on something like a Nordhavn and you basically have my dream Yacht. Aquaholic becoming a force to be reckoned with, and well deserved.

Hybrid drive is the way forward and absolutely love learning about it in college, hopefully more companies will adopt it

That is an awesome system,and a very good ship.A couple 'canopies'made with flexible solar panels would be perfect for putting,err,humming down the coast and trolling for dinner.

Hi Nick, great to see more hybrid drive yachts being launched on the market. Reducing wear and tear on the diesel engines, lower maintenance costs, fuel lasts longer, and so on, better bang for our bucks. The design profile with the high bow is modern and sexy for a yacht at this price point. 1.8kw on the Solar array is an efficient solution, will be epic for sunny climates. The Diesel tank is 700 L/154 gal quite decent NM capability. I am adding this one to my top 10 list, thanks for another superb review.

Entirely makes sense to use what would normally be dead space on the boat. Looks like a very comfortable 4 berth family boat, so makes sense to have the one large day heads. Very interested to see the hybrid in action so look forward to seeing the next video of this boat.

I can't say I am a fan of the wood interior, a little 1970's caravan for my taste. But the concept and the layout are extremely intriguing: the drop down transom, the cabin headroom and of course the electric power options. Very good stuff.
