Even though it is finer, he clearly spent more time. It makes it seem like the 3d printed one is better. Some dumbass is going to see these videos and get an expensive 3d printer to get cheap tools.

The thing is that the mortar and paste were originally designed for labs. However, there are other variants used for cooking like the molcajete, but the material of the original ones is to prevent the sample from contamination and contaminating the mortar and pestle.

That’s crazy if you actually believe the mortar and pestle were first made for the lab (yes they were used even before chemistry was a proper science for preparation of materials for experiments etc… But the mortar and pestle have literally been around for thousands of years with a whole bunch of materials that have been used to make them… you can literally look up pictures of examples that have been found which date back thousands of years plus logically it just makes sense that its such a simple and essential tool that it would be around since humans have been making tools as I’m sure it true date of inception goes back much further than what has been found…

Just to add there are literal examples dating as far back to 35000 BC the idea that science has some exclusivity to science is insane as literally they were around long before science, science merely adopted it and improved upon the material used for the purpose as described specifically for the use in chemistry. I think part of the appeal of the mortar and pestle is some of the particles get stuck in the cracks so it adds some flavor to whatever you mix in it, so 3d printed gets a leg up there. If you don’t mind plastic
