That’d be fairly easy if you just wanted to fly and shoot!! Take the guts of automatic airsoft and glue a servo to the trigger

@@davidjester5085 I’m (trying) to work on making my own RC B-17 with airsoft turrets. I’m planning on making mine a bit smaller, just a 6 foot wingspan, but those turrets in the video are a huge inspiration, they look amazing!

3D printed planes sure are the future. Might even be able to make them lighter by using a geodesic design like the Wellington and film covering them.

they will become the future when there's an LW-PLA that has a higher glass transition temperature so you can finally fly in a sunny without the worry that the model would warp in a hot environment or by simply leaving it inside the Car. Until then, it's not for everyone.

Looking through the turret did seem like a TIE like. Made me think about printing a cockpit with the FPV inside to give me the pilot view. TIE, X-WING, FALCON, Last Starfighter, Babylon 5, Stargate, Etc... Thanks again, great video. John S.

I did the model v (similar to the s) in glow in the dark pla with uv leds inside. The whole plane glows at night.

I have some really good ideas to do with fiber glassing techniques that could turn some of your larger models into lightweight rugged giants. Impregnating a layer of very light weight glass weave underneath your layer of paper. Leave off the water proofing component from the paper. Then spray a light layer of resin, squeegee off any excess. The result would be extremely durable and light weight aircraft capable long term flight.

14:24 Josh is correct, Horizon Hobby doesn’t make the Night Radian FT version anymore, BUT They do make a Night Radian V2 with Smart Technology installed.

Would love some led lite version, maybe translucent printed wings? Also, have you considered an altimeter and compass in your POV HUD? With more people flying at the ranch, perhaps an ATC tower? Track planes with rfid chips, relayed altimeter to triangulate location in the air? Basically an anti aircraft battery but with a laser or just a camera with a magnifying sights?

Love to see a tank battle series with 3d printed tanks that use 1 person as a driver and 2nd person as the gunner. Simulate a tank crew with combat. 1/10 scale perhaps.

You must put some decent antennas up outside on the building. The FPV flying will be interrupted and you can fly further out on the property.

It'd be cool to run a secondary receiver for the ball turret gunner and wire it up to a chair like you were talking about and then when they push the stick left or right it'll spin their chair too.

in reference to coming in to a failed print with a bunch of spaghetti, you should seriously consider setting up octoprint with the "The Spaghetti Detective" plugin. You can monitor and control your printer from anywhere, and it also has a feature where it uses AI to watch for spaghetti, and if it sees it it will notify you and pause the print(you can set it to only notify you if you don't want it auto pausing).

Dave, you might want to go with a clear PLA for that top gun turret, depending on just how clear it is. Also, for the canopy and nose on the B-17, that way you can put a little miniture Josh in there to pilot it. The Ball turrect looks fine and authenic enough the way it is.

That would be great and I did consider it, unfortunately you can not see through clear PLA very well so the decision was made to make it solid and paint in the windows. The 2nd ball turret I decided to add clear plastic after for the windows

How are you going to retract the ball for landing? (the original B-17 ball gunner position retracted before landing or it would crush the ball gunner.)

I'm guessing you guys already know this, but power loss protection is a great help for 3d printing. When it turns on again, it'll just resume printing (some printers might ask you first). I will say you might have to watch out in case the printer head moves the print since the bed has cooled down and it might not be stuck anymore until it heats up...

So now we all know that eclipson does undeniably excellent 3d printed aircraft but can you now try PlanePrint models too so to make a comparison? they also make awesome models like for example to compete with this one they have a glider called Riser. They have also a small fun little plane called the Ziggy...Oh, you definitely have to try that one!

I was stunned the power outages are a thing in the US. I have experienced 2 outages for like 5 min each in the last 20 years 🤣, and I'm living in the middle of the Bavarian forest. .

I’m printing one now , the only headache 🤕 is when you get a bad print and you have to figure why that one particular print doesn’t want to print right ….. and it’s starts to add up with the light eight pla and other pla you’ll need along with the motor and servos

You should try putting AirSoft in some guns, and laser tag in the others, then you would get some holes too!

My brother got into 3D printing back at least 4-5 years ago and failed. Barely printed anything. He even bought another printer about a year ago and did little better. I picked up a resin printer abut a month ago and have been cranking out stuff like crazy. Sadly it is more expensive, can not print as large of stuff, and lacks light weight ability. What is does do it detail. The print size is something like 3.5"x5.5" but it uses a 4K resolution and .5mm layer thickness so the detail level is crazy high. It is amazing the STL files you can find online, but I want to learn how to make my own. After a half dozen test prints I have figured this out enough so my print success rate is at least 95% or more. I have gone through 3.5 liters of resin and printed probably 50 plates of miniatures and since the print time is determined 100% by the height so I pack these plates full.

Do 4 videos... one with the POV on a 3D gimbal with head tracking for full immersion flying... and the second about super long range POV flying... and the last about solar cells on the wings to see if it is possible to fly all day... and GPS autopilot control.
