they already have most replacement parts on their website and they're dirt cheap. hotend: heat brake + nozzle: $9.99. hardened steel version: $14.99. if you include the fan, it's $29.99 / $34.99. thermistor, heat sock, and ceramic heater: $4.99 each. oem build plate: $23.99. complete single ams drive unit (thing with plastic gears): $34.99. filament buffer: $24.99. the AMS roller, filament driver shaft, ptfe tube, and ams cable: $4.99 each. entire hardened steel extruder unit: $44.99. camera: $49.99. extruder housing: $14.99. side part cooling fan: $29.99. screen: $150. carbon air filter: $5.99. display cable: $6.99. the more expensive parts are reasonable, and the rest are outright cheap. I'm surprised by this and this is the only reason I went ahead and bought one myself

Almost at 500 printing hours and only 2 (minor)failed prints. I love this machine. Super polished and it just kicks out prints...FAST. A little noisy but at the speed and quality you get, it's a non issue. Definitely change the purge values except when changing from black to a lighter color. I have a 4 color pumpkin with black eyes and a "Zorro mask" from to little purge, this is one of the fails. Amazing machine.

I think this video is a bit older because a lot of the things he says work on mine. (For people who want an update, here is mine, i don't know if this works the same for everyone and if an update will change any of this, so this is just my point of view) 1: When the printer detects errors on the first layer it pauses and give a notification which you can resume or cancel the print 2: When the spool in the AMS is empty it does show it on the display but keeps printing, but only till all of the filament is empty in the printer as well. At that point the printer pauses and gives you a notification to refill the spool (which starts printing perfectly fine after inserting a new spool of filament) 3: Printing via WiFi uploads a big file (30+mb) within seconds to half a minute from my MAC 4: Inserting an SD card works at my printer all the time (printer detects micro SD card and never froze when printing from the SD card) I have the printer for a few weeks (probably 3 / 4) and so far i have printed almost non stop on the printer. It had no faults so far and i hope it will be as reliable as it is now. I have no idea how reliable it will be in a few years but so far it surprised me in a good way

I wouldn't say that 3d printers don't get any faster, but I would agree that commercial 3d printers can't beat the bambu in speed. The vcore 3, vzbot, and hevort still run circles around the bambu, especially when it comes to hotend flow. it is important to not that the bambu is extremely cheap compared to the complex DIY kits, and also has some crazy features not in those kits.

To begin with, I was watching your channel quite often and it provides a lot of useful content for me. I ordered this device around a month ago and I received it today and after watching your review I was worried because this filament run out detection was quite important feature for me so this was the first thing I tested to confirm. In my case it works, X1 carbon + AMS. Indeed if I cut the filament I can see red diode blinking in AMS unit but there is quite a lot of filament in the tube so for me it makes sense it will not stop because that remaining filament can be enough to finish the print. This is tube is quite long. But anyway if extruder detects that there is no filament it pauses with pop-up message and asks if you want to stop or continue. In this case you should put new filament in AMS slot, load it and continue print, works like a charm. For power loss feature it doesn't work and there is official statement from bambu lab this is still not implemented. Anyway I was using Prusa Mk2s for few years and this X1 Carbon machine is a huge step forward in my opinion. But it costs more too. For me this is really decent deal. Regards !
@cy-one
@cy-one Жыл бұрын
The price becomes rather equivalent if you compare an assembled MKs3+ and an X1/X1C without the AMS. At that point, the comparison between the two machine's capabilities isn't even funny anymore.

@@cy-one agree, X1C is a better deal in my opinion and if you consider AMS vs MMU it is far more reliable and more usable.

@@ravm84 AMS vs MMU was actually one of the reasons why I went with an XC1/AMS Combo. I want to have the option for multimaterial (to a degree) and multicolor. The MMU is never really reviewed very favorably, the best you seem to be able to get is "it works for a few months, then it suddenly doesn't anymore." Of course we don't have long-term reviews for the AMS yet, but from everything that has come out... It seems very reliable.
@cy-one
@cy-one Жыл бұрын
@@ravm84 I love how Palette produces less waste than the AMS. The AMS however can use _very_ different materials as long as you get your nozzle to not clog. As Palette needs to fuse filament together, it can't be _too_ different.

Got mine yesterday. Call me impressed lol. From the time I unboxed it to printing out a benchy; was less than an hour. This includes wifi setup and firmware update. I printed off the scraper next following my own model which was a larger print. Came out so freaking good. On my Anycubic Vyper or CR-10S would take 7-8hrs. Meanwhile I finished it in 3hrs20m. Too top it off the quality was better with faster speeds! Once my print was done I flopped it off the bed and was shocked to see that the slim tree supports came off the model and were still stuck to the bed. Usually I'm fighting with support to come off my model.

its 2x cheaper than the voron , voron + 3d printed parts if u order them its 2x more expensive for me Bambulab is perfect 3D printer for market right now that will force others to produce 3D printers even better than they do now , maybe not like bambulab but i hope we wont get more "enders" and prusa clones all the time but something closer to where bambulab goes than just more clones of old prusa design etc Of course if Stratasys won't block us as 3d printer makers again 😑

You also have to build a Voron, which is a significant task, even for someone experienced with 3D printers. Of course, it's great to build a Voron if you want to learn all the ins and outs of the hardware, electronics, Klipper, etc., but the cost is pretty insane for a good kit by LDO or similar.

The power off resume function: instead of using the power switch on the machine, did you try leaving the power switch on the machine on and cutting the power from the wall/surge protector instead? I wonder if it might be thinking that you turned it off on purpose, instead of a power outage.

I had that same problem on my x1 carbon it was an issue due to the slicer sending the gcode over the cloud but not all lines of code were sent. Re slice the file and send it again and it helps to put a micro as card in to help the onboard storage store large files.

What are your thoughts now given the spare parts are on the site with the prices showing? To me they are reasonable, so it does make me wonder how they are doing business wise since you still do get a lot for the money. I am tempted to get one, but only when it’s out of the pre order stage and people have used them for a few more months to get an idea on reliability. Printing that fast does make me wonder whether it will stay reliable for years to come.

I think their biggest problems right now are software and QA. I'm still waiting on my X1CC but my P1P arrived a couple of weeks ago. I have had a few failed prints, which turned out to be due to software bugs in their mac copy of BambuStudio (their 1.4.1 beta fixes all of these though). There are a lot of people on their discord and on reddit who are starting to see issues after running the printers for a few months. From severely wearing carbon rods, broken spool runners in the AMS, broken fans, etc. They are fantastic printers, but I do worry about the long-term wear issues that they dont look to have tested very well.

There is such intense competition with new 3d printer tech that I strongly doubt it will become a problem that any sane company will do a proprietary tech rugpull and raise prices on replacement parts. If anything the replacement part aftermarket will immediately pick up the slack so it's virtually impossible for it to become a problem.

Come on, the bamboo team is still alive, that means it's doing well. I ordered one yesterday, paying only the small deposit of 46 euros. To be honest they would have to charge the Pre-Order of the product only and not also the shipping costs. Probably the 6 million euros reached on Kickstart were not enough. Now I'm just a little' afraid that it is a totally proprietary project both in hardware and software and, as far as I see, at the moment it still suffers from problems of youth, however, if I understand correctly, this video of yours was recorded many months ago?? If you like you will let me know. In the meantime, fingers crossed. Tony. B2B DRONE - Italy

Single extruder multimaterial printing will always be wasteful, even with things like 'purge to infill' (which is very model dependent). IDEX or something like a Palette is the way to go for multimaterial, but I just don't have any real use for it so I didn't opt for the AMS. Hopefully Bambu can introduce user settings to reduce amount of purge with AMS.

What do you recommend as a first 3D printer? Prusa MK3S+ or BambooLab X1 / X1 Carbon?
@3DMakerNoob
@3DMakerNoob Жыл бұрын
Depends on your budget to be honest. I have both. The MK3S+ is a proven workhorse, quiet, reliable and precise, the X1C is just ridiculously fast and easy to use. Both have their pros and cons. But with either one you won’t be disappointed
@limebulls
@limebulls Жыл бұрын
@@3DMakerNoob budget secondary. From all reviews I saw the Bamboo seems to be technically superior. But what I don’t like is: proprietary parts, which somebody can not buy if the company is out of business and the „always online“ cloud function, which sends the 3d model I want to print to the chinese cloud. I like that you can get nearly any part easily for the Prusa and that they offer „upgrade kits“ for new versions of the MK models. But the Prusa seems to be outdated compared to the lcd touchscreen, high price without even MMU2S, much slower speed, no camera, not casing etc. (you can upgrade all of this but at a higher price point and the MMU2S seems to be inferior to the AMU of BamooLab) I tend towards the prusa, because of its proven reliability over time and superb spare parts availability. But the BambooLab seems to be so much nicer machine, the looks of it, the speed, the touchscreen, the case and even things like the nozzle are higher quality out of the box? BambooLabs has a hardened stainless steel and prusa only a standard copper nozzle. Of course you can upgrade but BambooLabs took thought into it right from the beginning. But I like that I can assemble the whole prusa, because I never had a 3d printer before and I think as a newbie somebody can learn a lot from assembling the whine machine. Anyway straight to the point: If budget is not an issue, which one do you recommend? Do they both have the same print quality?
@tjlqk3
@tjlqk3 Жыл бұрын
@@limebulls you bring a good point on propertiary items but they are priced very reasonably. I had mk3s's and sold them in favor of two x1c combos. The speed and accuracy of the prints is right up there with the prusa. I don't see any reason you'd want to dump almost 1k on a prusa when they are getting very aged. Both my x1c's have been about 200 hrs of nothing but fantastic prints. Two failed prints. But was my fault for not using a brim.

@@tjlqk3 thank you! Do you recommend to buy a textured BambuLab PEI Sheet with the X1C? Or is the included sheet enough?
@tjlqk3
@tjlqk3 Жыл бұрын
@@limebulls I've used the standard "cool plate" for pla and it worked very well if you applied a light coat of glue stick. I recently received the textured pei and it has been fantastic, and I won't go back. I just received an Energetic pei sheet too but have not used it yet. If you are seriously considering the x1c and they have a textured pei in stock, I would grab it as well. If they are out of stock, try using the cool plate and if it does not work out for you, there are 3rd party ones that people are having good luck with.

@mickmouse2258
@mickmouse2258 Жыл бұрын
Late reply but - The hotend and nozzles are custom on this machine. They offer standard nozzles for general use like PLA & PETG and hardened nozzles for abrasive filaments like Carbon Fiber, Glass filled or Wood filled, etc. The X1C comes with the high end nozzles and the newly released P1P comes with a lower end nozzle but can upgrade to the higher end parts. As noted above the prices they're charging for the parts is exceptionally reasonable. A Hotend & Nozzle combo is like $29 while the same from Ultimaker (whom this machine directly competes) is over $120!
