Hi 3D / Design Friends,
This is a little breakdown of a short and typical client project / booking. Of course I also get involved in other aspects of a project, so it´s not always just styleframes and look development, but most often I transition also into the animation phase of a project and work on it from start until the end.
But yeah, this is just a breakdown of four typical days for me, when I do look-development and create styleframes.
And as I also mention in the video: It´s not about the amount of renderings per day, but instead if you are able to get closer to the final idea and "nail it"!
Some artists have another apporach for example, and just create one rendering a day and they are there! But for me, most of the time I need a couple of more approaches until I find a result that works for the client.
So, I hope this can be useful for some of the new artists to get an idea of a typical workday, but at the same time there also isn´t just a "typical workday" that represents it all. The jobs demands and tasks are very versatile, at least for me as a 3D Generalist. On one day you do a fire and smoke simulation, and on the other day you animate some beautiful abstract softbody animation.
I also talk shortly about the use of artificial intelligence nowadays in some studios in 2024.

Where do you get most of your clients? Do they mostly contact you through your website or social media? Would it be any different if you didn't have this soical presence, popularity?

Hi, I definitely get recognized by clients/studios by my activity on youtube and instagram mostly. I didn´t updated my website for a while because it wasn´t really necessary for me. I also barely reached out to any studio because I´m in kind of a lucky situation that I get some attention by my youtube/instagram. But: The more traditional way would be to contact studios with your short showreel ( 30-60seconds). You wanna get the email adress of the producer of a studio, for example, and tell them you are out there and available. So... to get good clients, the usual way is to get active and reach out. But of course at the same time, share your work regularly online and then it can also happen, that they will see your work and reach out for you. I hope this answer wasn´t to short, I could say more about this topic, but probably it´s better to tell you about this great book "freelance manifesto" where you can also get a lot of knowledge.

Truely amazing how many iterations you did. That sounds like a nightmare. How do you save each iteration? Do you make a new file for every change in Light/CameraPos?

'Like a nightmare' 😅🤣🔥... that's funny. Yeah sure, I just save incrementaly and on some days you just have 50 3d Files. But on other days, maybe its only 5 Files, it depends totally on the task.
