For the back side I use thin sheet metal. I punch a bunch of tiny holes in the metal and heat the metal with a torch and press it onto the plastic over the crack or whatever I'm fixing. The plastic seeps through the holes in the metal, then I quickly cool with water. It makes a great bond. Its really quick and easy.

By the time I add up the parts, adhesion promoter, flexible part repair kit and the rear side patch, I could buy an undamaged bumper from an auto recycler. Do you offer a kit for one-off repairs?
@acidsurfers2 жыл бұрын
This is great. The adhesion promoter and the epoxy would be great for making a partial flexible shell around my old plastic motorcycle gas tank

Hint. If you don't have a "pearl" (requiring a mixing step and nozzle set up 15 minutes) . It is just clear coated after paint. No biggy.Single panels are easily colour matched. Spraying is the last step of several preparation steps all of which you can do on the driveway. You'll do a lot of wet sanding and eyeballing in natural light, and with flashlights at night. Your final finish is in the prep work, and you only need a water hose, time (sanding/filling materials). It's not magic. You'll be happier and richer if you prep it yourself. Make sure it's wiped off well with methyl just before entering the painting booth to get your finger prints off.

does 3M make a product that would seal up cracks in my motorcycle gas tank? they're hairline cracks..and it's a 2 cycle, so there will be oil in the gas...I know I know..the smart thing to do would be replace the tank..but a new one costs about 450.00 bucks..and I cant find a used one.. thanks

Can this material be used to create an entire part? I'm looking for ways to build custom motorcycle fairings and i'm looking at Urethane materials because it remains semi-flexible. Often the subframe is bent and rarely fixed accurately. That's why I need the material to be semi-flexible and accepting of reinforceing material like fiberglass mat. If

I used part number 05987 accidentally due to computer error and my bumper appears to have grown a mouse with a human ear on it's back. The mouse is nocturnal, has to eat six times a day, and hears everything we're saying. It's demanding things and pointing out failures of our species constantly. Work has become nine hours of awkward silence interrupted by berating and demands for quiet, food, water and freedom. Watch those part numbers! My cousin ended up with an F-15 sprouting out of a Yugo, in a similar incident. That repair cost 22 million dollars, and the customer refused to pay.

Just buy a new bumper,cheaper to do than fix them.All you have to do is prep it,prime it,paint it and clear coat it.Finally install it.Most insurance companies put a new bumper on the estimate if covered by insurance

***** Yeah after doing some searching online about how to paint your plastic bumper cover online. You are completely correct. There's better ways in actually getting it ready to paint. Also better steps making sure the paint will stick and be able to flex since it is plastic. There is proper steps that you should follow when applying the first few coats exc.

mike walter And it's a new adventure for the kids. They hold my tools while the dog kills things. "Dad took us to the junk yard. Maggie killed something. All we got was front bumper fascia off a '95 Toyota Tercel." An educational experience is had by all. Kids wear hats and are kept away from propped up vehicles. "Maggie come! Here Maggie. Maggie leave it." (The cat would have brought it right up to me). "LEAVE IT!"
