Thanks for the information. Mine started acting erratic then started to auto close. It is clearly under load like one of the coils is stuck on. Thought it might be moisture since we just got a lot af rain. One of the buttons feels different compared to the other which is the button that is auto closing, bitton was very sensitive. Checked continuity on both micro switches and they are good. One of the coils has continuity and the other one doesn't seem to have continuity, but its tough to get to upside down. Switched coil plugs and the bottom is now staying engaged, but still Auto closing. Im going to double check control plugs and wire splices for moisture before taking the solenoid valve apart to check for clogs, debris or anything strange., That may be causing power to stay engaged. At least now, I know what I'm looking for because of your video. So thanks. 🙏

Thanks for this video. I just bought my first tractor (used) and it already had the 3rd function switch and front couplers. I never used them until Saturday when my new grapple arrived. I hooked the grapple up and started the tractor, let it sit a few minutes and then pushed the top button on the 3rd function. Nothing happened. I pushed the bottom button and nothing happened. I don't see the houses jumping like in some other videos, not do I hear a clicking sound when I push the buttons. I traded the hoses to a valve that looks just like the one you have. I'm debating whether I should try to do what you did. I might get the thing apart and not be able to get it together. Plus, I don't even know how to check OHMs. But you showed me where the problem probably is, so thank you for that!

I just purchased a 3025D from my local dealer in SC and they installed a third function before they delivered it to me. So it’s a option I know for sure. Thanks for the great Videos. Keep up the good work!

I have a 3025e. On my 3 function I had problems. If you take a small screw driver you should be able to manually make your grapple work. Just push the center of the shift. You can do both ends. Once I manuallycycled mine a few times it started working. Worth a try if it happens again yo you. Mine is a W L Long 3rd function. They have trouble shooting videos. I also run a wicked 55 from everything attachments on mine. The more you use your grapple the more you will find uses for it.

This happened to me as well with a Summit third function kit for a JD 2038R. Summit sent me a replacement valve and I used it once a few weeks ago. Went to use it again yesterday and the grapple would close but not open. I swapped the hydraulic lines at the top of the valve and both open and close functions work, however that is backwards. By swapping the hydraulic lines I am using Tank to squeeze any logs or large rocks and there is not sufficient power. It snaps open quickly but no power closing and holding. I need to contact Summit again tomorrow. Frustrating that these valves evidently don't hold up.
