Hey! Thanks for the video and pics of the difference of the HID VS Halogen. Has there been any discrepancies when it comes to people flicking the high beam at you ? When behind them or oncoming traffic ? Looking at the pics, looks like the cutoff beam is set well for it to block the light from blinding people but idk. Been reading online through Tacoma world how the projectors in our tacos are meant for halogen only but looking at your pics, looks fine to me.

Amadeo Lopez Thanks bro I’m glad you found this helpful that’s what I aim for. No I haven’t had any issues with people flashing me or blinding people I’m behind. I did adjust the cutoff a little not because I put in HIDs I did because of the leveling kit but the cutoff is super sharp in my video you can see there is no difference between the two lights as far as cutoff goes and what you see in the video isn’t as good as it is in person I have also read a lot of stuff about our lights on the forums and when it comes to HIDs it doesn’t really apply because the problem with our projector is it’s a reflector housing so you need 360 degrees illumination so you mainly see issues when you go the LED route because your not getting 360 from one light your getting 180 or less from two or more lights causing multiple hot spots and a nasty split from the LED housing holding the LED chips so with all that said the HIDs are awesome I love the way they look and the performance they are a must and I promise you’ll love it

Ok sweet! I was looking for a second set of headlights to retrofit but in the long run, that’s a lot of money to play with! Which i don’t have lol but imma pull the plug and get the HID finally! I had a 09 Honda Fit that i got the headlights retrofitted with projectors and loved the cleanliness .

as long as the replacement for the halogen, be in HID in this case, the little glass bulb where the chemicals are that emit the light mimics the tungsten filament there should not be a problem with light scatter

Hey Taco Hands, great video! Based on your video it looks like you got the HD relay with your kit. Morimoto also has the option for a canbus harness. Do you have any issues with bulb out warnings going with the Relay? Not sure if our Taco’s even have this type of warning but figured I would ask. Thanks!

Is the kits come with gromet prevent bouncing? I heard alot of ppl having bouncing problem
@AshtonRegier4 жыл бұрын
Alex Pham Honestly I’m not sure but I’d say yes I were to guess cause I have no bouncing issues at all and I do a lot of trail riding so I would think with all that rattling and bouncing it would definitely loosen things up to were you would be able to see it on the street but I have no issues on or off road from my experience they are a great purchase

What is the difference between this $190 elite package and the normal $40 Morimoto H11 HID kit?
@AshtonRegier4 жыл бұрын
Ross Buerger honestly I’m not sure. Make sure the 40 not just bulbs

I see this is 2 years old now. So are the Morimotos worth it in your opinion now? Would the 4000k be better for color?
@AshtonRegier3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’d go LEDs now just all around better! As far as color goes I like the 5k it’s really not too blue I’ve done a lot of trails and dusty conditions and felt great with the visibility. Just my opinion.
@marvj88164 жыл бұрын
I have the same kit. But my 5500k have a slight green hue to them (they are still 2 weeks new, therefor I hope it still needs some breaking in for the color change). Can you confirm whether or not yours does to?
@AshtonRegier4 жыл бұрын
Marv J Ya man mine do have a little green going on and I was hoping that it would change but it hasn’t. I haven’t reached out to see if I can get them replaced but probably should it’s not crazy noticeable until you run it with my LEDs that are also 5500k. Thanks for bringing this up cause I wanna look into it and if you do by chance before me let me know what’s said
@marvj88164 жыл бұрын
@@AshtonRegier Yea, the only reason I noticed it immediately was because my other car has Osram CBI bulbs which are 5500k as well. But those are pure white -- however, those bulbs by themselves are over $110 the pair [or $180 if you want it rebased to H11]. I haven't reached out to The Retro Fit Source yet, there are a few forum posts stating it's green at first, but after a 80 hours it goes away...but I don't see it changing on mine yet.

Very nice! How do you like the 5500k temperature? Does it have blueish tone?
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Rose Vent Thanks. Ya I do like the 55 temp looks so much better than the halogen bulbs and way brighter! they do have a slight blue to them but not too much I in my opinion I feel it’s the perfect temp to match the DRL’s and give awesome light quality
@rvent14625 жыл бұрын
Taco Hands I've heard that after 60-90 days the HIDs gets whiter.
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Rose Vent I’ve heard similar things and I’ve heard people go back and forth about the quality of the products as a reason/cause for color change and honesty I’ve only been running these for a little over a month and so far it’s all good so I can’t complain or say anything about that but if I do run into anything I’ll definitely say something and so far my experience dealing with Morimoto has been awsome so I’m sure if I wasn’t happy they’d make it right
@rvent14625 жыл бұрын
Taco Hands Yeah, in this case, to me, the bulbs getting whiter is a good thing as i want them to match the DLRs. Thank you for the reply, i will order a 35W H11B 5500k and your video will be very helpful with the installation.
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Rose Vent Oh ok bro I see what you mean I thought you were talking about one changing colors so they don’t match but ya so far mine look great and match perfectly with my DRL’s you will be happy with your purchase

Is the light shaking and bouncing on rough roads?
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Keith Chhieng No I have been on a few trails since the install and have had no issues did some night wheeling in Moab a week ago and everything looked and worked great

Great! I had issue with mine 2018 trd offroad. The bulbs fit tight and snug but the only problem is that they shake and bounce. Enjoy your truck!

What do you do with the relay that has the positive and negative thing for the battery? Like what do you do or how do install that
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Green Your exactly right those are positive and negative leads and they are intended for a direct battery connection but you can run then to a fuse box if you want to direct would be the easiest way
@MrGreen-qr5pe5 жыл бұрын
Taco Hands I just tried installing mine and it won’t work. I think the problem is not where but how to ground those wires. Help?
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Green Alright so on mine I ran the positive directly to the battery and the negative/ground to the same spot the battery is grounded by the fender on the chassis make sure you’ve plugged in the factory low beam to your relay harness and that it is low beam
@MrGreen-qr5pe5 жыл бұрын
Taco Hands I put the positive to the positive and the negative on the negative and then the ground one close to the battery and it still didn’t work
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Green That’s crazy and your sure you have the low beam plugged into the new harness?? Check the inline fuse

Dont really need the relay... just the igniter, ballast, bulbs
