3rd gen 4runner lift review. In this video I will go over my suspension lift on my 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner. I will also cover wheels, tires, fitment and rubbing or trimming involved. I'm running Cooper Dicovery STT Pro's in 285/75/R16 which measure out to about 32.8"
For wheels Im using KMC km535 Grenade in 16x8 and -6mm offset.
I used Bilstein 5100 shocks and struts, Ome 2883 coils front & 2890 rear.
Total Lift: Front should be 3" lift and rear should be 3-3.5" lift depending on weight.
*Bilstein 24-248730 & 24-249966 Pair of B8 5100 Front & Rear Monotube Shocks for 96-02 Toyota 4Runner
Sway bar end links ( front 3rd gen 4runner links to the rear) ( rear 2nd gen 4runner links to front)

Newby to your channel and liking the content very much! I have the same color 99 SR5 (no diff locks however) as my ride in Costa Rica. So fun cruising the back roads in search of rivers and waterfalls. I'm a fellow BC'er that spends time there and slowly doing similar modes. Unfortunately the mechanics down there are not as skilled as you. Looking forward to viewing future videos. Pura Vida!

@@Beacon_OffroadC.R. is different but similar to Costal BC. It has rainforests that are lush green, lots of rivers to cross, slippery volcanic mud and beautiful beaches you are allowed to camp on. A 4wd drive is almost mandatory if you want to go off pavement. The 4runner is a classic there and parts are readily available. They hold there value too. I paid $10K USD for mine 2 years ago. Put nearly $4K USD in repairs and upgrades. I could still sell it for $10K USD. Wish I had it here for the summer months. Thanks for connecting and I will be watching for future videos!

Great video. I stumbled across this video doing a google search. I’m surprised it hasn’t gone viral yet as these 3rd gens are in demand! I have a similar setup with Bilstein 5100s front and rear. I’m currently running 17x7.5 oem tacoma wheels with 265/65r17 tires. I also have oem upper control arms. The upper Control arm is about half an inch away from the tire. If I go with a 16x8 wheel with your same tire size of 285/75r16 what offset do I need in order to clear the upper control arms? I heard you mention an offset of -6 with your setup. I don’t have fender flares as mine is just an SR5. Would a 0 offset clear the upper control arms or would I have to go with your setup of a -6 offset? Appreciate the help brother.

Great stuff! Thanks for covering this (as a follow up to your earlier video). As a newbie to 3rd Gen T4R and all of the mods to consider (lift, suspension, etc.), this is very helpful. Those Cooper STT's look awesome! I'd love to get some for my '98, but they're a little pricey (and I don't do much off-roading yet). How do they perform in snow?

I have a question for you. Was wondering if you can help me out. I have a 3rd Gen. runner manual transmission 4 cylinder 2.7. I understand a lot of people go with the red line G L4 gear oil for the transmission fluid. And a lot of people don't recommend the standard G L5 that autozone sells Because of the extra sulfur that damages the synchros. However there are some that autozone now sales that says for requirements G L4 and G L5 but don't know if that is safe to use. Some people say just to stick with strictly G L4 manual transmission fluid however some have said that the new versions of G L4/G L5 gear oils Are OK to use because they aren't as corrosive to the syncros in the transmission. Do you have any advice as to preferably which gear oil to stick with and which one do you use if you have a manual transmission

Im going with the same OME springs on front and back with 5100’s. For 3inches of lift should i just leave the shocks on the factory setting of 0 lift? Would you recommend leaving my rear sit a half inch higher so when its fully loaded the truck sits evenly by using spacers? I have 33 inch tires and i dont want to rub ( i dont mind cutting). Long term i want to of course upgrade control arms and shocks but i want to use this setup or something similar to save money while i work on other things. Also what did you use to correct the driver lean?

Curious what setting you ended up with for the front perch. I'm debating between 2nd and 3rd slots. I have the 890s in the back and leaning towards third slot so the front sits about half inch lower or close to even with the rear.

With the 5100s you'll have the adjustment you'll need. Depends which front setting you use I doubt it will be higher in the back. A little of rake is good though if you plan to haul camping gear etc... it will sag or settle a bit eventually over a few months in the rear. Good luck 👍

With this lift setup, does it have a raked look? Unfortunately, you never show us a side profile view of your truck so I can’t see what the finished product looks like. Also, you should have a list of part numbers of every part you used and needed for this setup to make it easy for us to know exactly what we need to order. You mentioned something that needs to be welded? But I’m trying to figure out what that is and/or if it’s necessary!?
