A short discussion on the differences and similarities between nv5600, 48re/g56, and 68rfe adapter plates for those of you auto or manual swapping your third gen dodge Cummins pickups.

There is so much out there, it's hard finding a few simple details when working on a conversion. Thank you for making this, it answered a few questions I had.

Good video, I have a G56 with the south bend single mass flywheel conversion, (which has the flywheel spacer already incorporated in the south bend flywheel) Do you think a NV5600 will bolt straight up to my engine with that single mass south bend set up?

I’ve heard that you can use a nv5600 clutch/ flywheel setup with a g56 but I’m not sure if it works the other way around

Did you ever do the difference in the g56 and 68rfe plate

So the 68RFE plate is 1/4” thicker? Gathering the things for a 68RFE to G56 swap. I wonder if machining .250 off the trans mating surface would work? You wouldn’t happen to have an exact thickness of the G56 plate would you? I’ll probably get a proper adapter plate anyway, but it would be nice to save a few hundred where I can. Thanks!

Yessir you can machine the 68rfe plate down, I don’t have any exact specs but I do know guys have done it to use the 68rfe mounting points as mid plate brackets for race applications
