Wrapping up Drag Week 2021 here with Day 3, 4, and 5 racing. When we started the week, we didn't really know what to expect. We just wanted to get the car through the week because we had another week of racing coming up right after. We ran our own race an focused on getting the car dialed in and worked on getting lots and lots of data to keep the e.t. dropping. It wasn't until the last day, literally maybe an hour before our last pass that we realized we had a chance to place in the Unlimited category. I have never, ever placed at Drag Week in anything. It is so competitive. But, not only did we place, but we averaged in the 7s and ran a 7 every. single. day. We were tiered, but happy and ready for round two of drag and drive the very next day. The two best summers of my life--2006 and 2007--were spent traveling to tracks on the East Coast to run with my daughter, who was 18 in 2006. We towed our Porsche race car to places like Virginia International Raceway and Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, and back again. Different kind of racing, but very fun. It's great to see you and your dad doing the same thing and having fun together. Brings back great memories.

Your Dad built one heck of a machine, and the whole team brought it to life. I'm so happy to see you and the car performing a little better every pass. But don't rush, you'll get there. Get your seat time and more experience and you'll be running up front soon enough. Luck has a hand in being successful and it's not always good luck, so take the time to enjoy the times luck is on your side. Stay safe and have fun.... and go give your Dad another hug, he's earned it.

I was filming in the burnout boxes when all 3 wrecks happened that last day and all I could think about was how your Dad was processing all of this knowing his daughter was up next. 😬 Congratulations on third place, Alex! Your descriptions of the events unfolding in front of you are REAL, those who aren’t around drag racing don’t understand. Its not all ‘grudge’ racing and ‘eliminations’ the reality is every other racer is a friend, sharing the same passion. Whether you know them well or not. You share a great perspective. Much the same with Scott vs Finnegan in DW2019. That single pass on Day 1 hurt J, but Mike had a fast run. Made all the difference in the averages by Day 5 when Finnegan only needed a 9.14 or better to capture 1st. It's okay to feel bad for Goldstone, and pleased with your own accomplishment.

If the guy was not seriously injured, then yes, you are totally allowed to celebrate..... And Yes, it Absolutely counts.... whether it was a mechanical failure or driver error or something else.... you have to finish to be in the running. And you and your car and crew/dad finished 3rd.... CONGRATULATIONS. Y'all totally deserve it 👍👊

Congratulations Alex and the entire team. Third place in unlimited on a new car is a stunning achievement. Just finishing the week would be great. I think you relayed the final day calamities very well. Of course you don't want to dance on someone else's misfortune. Thank heaven that all three drivers were ok. But it does remind that there is risk involved every time you make a pass. In the end the podium finish is all yours however. Whether a car fails or it wrecks it did not finish. And that is racing. Be proud of your achievement.

Congatulations on an amazing feat! What you and your dad are doing is nothing short of amazing. Its probably a blur right now but one day you will look back and be just as astonished as we are. Alex the thing about racing, someone has to win, someone has to lose. I used to race slotcars (1/24 scale model cars on a wooden track) many times I won races when someone burnt out a motor or bent a chassis in a wreck, it happens. Did I like it? Nope, I wanted to beat them at their best, but on those days it wasn't meant to be. Racings racing, be it straight up or times events (Like DW). Someone has to win and someone has to lose. and congrats of both 3rd at DW and 1st at RW. Hope to see you run Sick week next year

Your dad mentioned people come from all over to see route 66. So funny story, my mom an step-dad went on a trip to Holland(family lives there) to visit, while there they where invited to a party.... it was a route 66 themed party, cause that's what the couple had done on Vacation. Mom told me, she never thought she'd have ever gone to a route 66 party, let alone in Holland.
