Anderson and Hall need to start every game until the end of the season. Hall posed a threat down the left that we haven’t had all season. Anderson carries the ball better than any of the midfielders we have and looks to pass forward every time. Barnes is a quality player and this proves we have another bargain on our hands.

Hall has shown he deserves a run of games in the team whether or not contract issues may be impinging him being played more. Lad is QUALITY young, hungry and brings far more to the team. As for Longstaff, well he's badly out of form and gives nothing to the team at the moment, while Willock is still battling back to full fitness. Anderson, Bruno, Willock would give far more against Everton with an exciting dynamic front 3 of Barnes, Isak and Murphy IMO 3 highly valuable points up for grabs C'mon the Toon

Thought Anderson was immense when he came on, he and Hall added much needed confidence and commitment. Raises the question why we haven’t seen Hall when we’ve been down to the bare bones of the squad. Murphy seemed to play better at full back, than on the wing, he wasn’t having a good day at all. Isak and Gordon give us much needed quality up front. Let’s hope Barnes is now fully fit, he’s a real threat on goal.

I understand what you're saying on the Schar injury goal for west ham because it wasn't a 'proper' head injury. But it's not consistent with the referee's previous behaviour for stopping the game. Multiple times the ref previously had stopped the game for phantom face injuries to Paqueta, when in reality he'd barely been touched. So with that as the bar, he should have definitely stopped the game for the Schar one as it was more of a clowt than Paqueta had ever got a stoppage for.

That's hard to say, but they did play with great energy and purpose after going behind. The penalty call on Phillips was an absolute gift and some argue the other was questionable as well, I will have to go back and watch it again. I think the next game will be more of a barometer because they are playing a struggling team. Harvey Barnes brought so much energy when he came on, to me he won the game for them. Great stuff Craig.

I’m sticking by my original instincts that Gordon should be RW and Barnes LW when both available. You saw Gordon’s brilliant play down the right second half, he can still create and score some goals playing there. Plus imo it’s important to have a natural side footer on one of the wings. Barnes is more of a goal scorer coming in from the left, he’s more clinical and technically proficient. Those two would be great at the same time. Get another striker/no 10 (or Willock) to play with Isak and a new CM/or Tonali to play with Bruno. We need to put square pegs in square holes, having Willock playing deeper goes against his instincts - he’s a no10 ultimately imo, and we need to have a proper CM alongside to Bruno to shore that midfield up and let attacking talents flourish, whether it’s Willock, Anderson or a new signing playing as a no10 with Isak.

Great result, great blog Craig. I think Howe is the right manager. However I’m worried about the in game decisions yesterday. Yeah I loved celebrating the last min winner in front of the away fans but it did not need to be that way. Hall should have come on for Jamal and we would have won the game without conceding as many. Also why bring on miggy when we have barnes on the bench? This worries me a little. However that performance in the last 20 with Anderson, hall and barnes was class.

Cheers Craig. A lot to get through indeed !! I didn’t get the 3 changes in defence when lascelles went off. Had us all over the place even more. However, he recognised that second half and changed things. 3rd goal sums our defending this season. How can we be so exposed when only 1 goal behind. Just isn’t right and we should keep 2 back at all times. Gordon was unplayable and hope his red card doesn’t cost us on Tuesday. Barnes was world class, hall looked fantastic and Anderson drove us on. I’m sick of the slow back and sideways passes each game. Anderson moved it quickly and forward which helped greatly. Willock still not right for me and Longy needs to come out. Lost confidence and had a poor game capped off with that chance he hit wide. I like Isak dropping back also as has the vision but only if we have wingers making the runs like barnes did. Moyes cost them the game as went too early with subs. But Eddie went for it. I dint don’t agree with singling out Phillips though and the abuse he gets. Pep has ruined him with no game time. Pen was unfortunate. 3rd goal nothing to do with him, still a back 4 and keeper to beat. The 4th blame 4 of his teammates for not closing Gordon down, yes he is turned very well but still need to shoot from 20 yards passed a defence and keeper. Harsh to blame him for that also. There is a player in there and would take him, but howe would need to spend a while getting him up to speed. So agree January not a transfer option. If it’s like this until the end of the season, which we all guessed it would be, then great so long as we win. Cheers

Unbelievable game. Absolutely bonkers. And a great summary Craig. Couple of bits from me. West Ham i thought were awful and largely ahead due to our own poor defending and general play. They were there for the taking the whole game. The 2nd west ham goal. I tjink it was rotten. Youve got Paqueta rolling around allmgame with west ham wanting the ball.kicked out to "treat" him. Yet its Paqueta who can see Fab down holding his head who decides to ignore that and take advantage of us being down a man. Legal? Yes. Poor from West Ham and the ref? Absolutely, in my opinion. My other negative which in turn is a positive. How on earth has Hall been an unused sub for almost the whole season when the manager has been referencing being stretched and struggling to get fit players on the pitch. He was outstanding today. He was against Man U in the cup too. Just makes no sense. Youve summarised the crowd superbly there and thanks for pointing out the support/lack of support between real life and social media. 8k at Man City singing his name at the end of the game. 52k in total support yet if you turned on Talksport or logged into X, you'd think the world wanted Eddie gone. Heres one for you Craig… How many players have scored 2 penalties in the same Premier League game against 2 different keepers? Is Isak the first? Anderson, Hall and Barnes the difference makers today. Willocks performance concerned me the most - seemed a mile off it!

Dubravka is a decent reserve keeper but he should have done better with West Ham's third goal. Like a few average keepers he does not fully extend his right arm when trying to save Bowen's shot. It seems as if he's trying to protect his fall rather than prioritising his job to save it. It was reminiscent of the goal he conceded against Austria to give that player the fastest ever international goal! And for their second, his positioning was just off. He was too near his left hand post. Another step or two to his right and he would have got a stronger hand to it.

Alternative opinion. Newcastle got lucky. Our 'impact subs' weren't a masterclass by Howe. They were forced upon him by injuries. Howe with a nightmare decision to, instead of just bringing on a natural LB like Hall, who came on and had a great game, and switching Burn to cover LCB when Lascelles went off, he brought on Krafth and shifted the whole backline around. Condeded almost immediately, Krafth playing Antonio on from an easy ball over the top. Krafth had a very disappointing game and was seeming to be fighting for worst player on the pitch with Longstaff. Thankfully Phillips also came on for West Ham and took that one. If Howe isn't playing Hall next game then I don't know what's going on.

There has to be consistency. If he is to blame for every poor performance he has to be credited for every win no matter what. Fact is, if we manage to scrape into Europe after the insane injuries then all we can do is praise Eddie- that’s as impressive as last season

Football is just a reflection of society, unfortunately. You can have doubts with Eddie and still fully support him. Same as certain players. These things are not mutually exclusive. Yesterday was fantastic but we can’t continue to concede goals so easily. I’m sure Eddie would say the same. We have some absolute outstanding players
