Travis Bell is the owner of Celebrity Machines (celebritymachines.com/) and a lover of star cars. At one time he was undoubtedly the world's biggest Dukes of Hazzard fan and curator of the ongoing history of the cars. He had a goal of seeing the General Lee fly and this is how he made it happen.

Scraps G how is the last video a scam or incorrect? Not all cars when jumped became this damaged as they didn’t always jump this way, where also weighted so they landed ass end so they wouldn’t catch and dig like this one did. With that said it was still badly damaged.

@@zazuch The last video was a real actual stunt car, this was just a junker. the stunt cars were all properly weighted to avoid this kind of landing.

apparently, you missed the drag n' fly episode where they talked about the weight in the trunk, engine blocks, logging chains, whatever heavy they could find. I have to wonder why somebody didn't come up with a "jump car" in generally lee form. Remember a series called the fall guy? in that series, the stunt men and the mechanics got together with some of the previously jumped wrecked trucks, and bulit a jump truck. They lightened the front end a lot, even using a plywood cut out of the front differential to make it look like it was still four wheel drive. The actual engin sat partly in the club cab and partly in the tool box. They beefed up the suspension parts...I don't recall exactly all they did. Anyway, they jumped that truck about 100 times, and in all that they broke one bolt once. So think about a general lee, put the engine in the back seat/trunk area, beef up the front and rear suspensions but take out any junk, put in a real frame and you could have a General Lee that could jump over and over again. that would be so cool. By the way the one the cast members actually drove is still around so I hear, it was actually an automatic with only a 318.

Every night in high school was watching tv with my family. I had the most undeserved reputation of being a party animal and pot head (contact lenses and windblown sand) during high school. Car stars were my life. Cannonball Run, Dukes of Hazard, Smokey and the Bandit. We stopped in the interstate driving through Colorado (from Georgia) to watch part of Walking Tall that was playing at a drive in that you could see from the interstate. Great childhood.

Ah. Growing up watching the Dukes live. It created car guys for life, and fueled our love of fast cars forever. I'm a couple weeks from turning 50. Hopefully it's still early, but you start reflecting on your past, and those no longer here or are past their prime. One thing I have come to appreciate is "one more time". The stuntman who wanted to drive the cop car, one more time. I always want my sports heroes like Jack Nicklaus to play a round on tv, one more time. Reflection and retrospection are powerful emotions about a time when we were so carefree. Like the stunt guy fulfilling his last dream, I just wish I could tell my dad how much I miss him...one more time.

You jumped "a general Lee",almost a hundred were made, many museums across the country have one. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message and a far more iconic car is whatever Bert Reynolds drove.

You could tell feom the thumbnail it was going to come down hard, what a way to celebrate an anniversary of an awesome show. It wouldn't have been the same unless the car was wrecked just like in so many shows. I'm happy the stunt driver was ok though. Well done and congrats...18 years ago lol. 😆😆😆

I sat in John Schneider's General Lee with a gas station in Agoura Hills. My friend knew him and called me over to meet him and see the car. The one that didn't get wrecked. In the General Lee with Bo Duke. Cool Day.
