I often get asked, "what are your settings for scratching?" In this video, I breakdown all the possible settings for your cuts starting with the most important one!
Earlier this year, Native Instruments released their HID-mode support for the CDJ-3000s. A recent improvement was applied to the latest update. This update applies to both the CDJ-3000 and the XDJ-1000MK2!

Speaking of crossfaders... I've been having an issue with Serato that nobody can seem to help me with. I've emailed Serato a million times with no response. Maybe you can help me??? Every time I connect my Dj controller to Serato... the crossfader on the screen disappears, and is no longer visible. The only time I can see it is when I don't have the DJ controller connected. What am I doing wrong?? Thanx.

Its kinda funny that you put this video up a year ago. I had pretty much given up on chirps with 400 and Rekordbox about a year ago because the cuts were too unpredictable and sounded terrible. Figured I'd just use this thing for mixing. Turned out the Cut Lag was set way too low. Changed the whole game. Thanks.

Been DJing for 20 years and I had the same issue. I always had my fader curve too sharp and always had trouble with chirps. Night and day once I figured that out.

You can fix your crossfader on entry level gear pretty easily if you don't mind desoldering/resoldering 2 contacts. Done this myself on a few now when the fader loose some of its looseness or the sound starts to bleed through when its all the way over. So instead of throwing it away and buying a new controller or even a new crossfader which can cost half the price of the device you can just take the crossfader out, break it down and rub some cleaning alcohol along the 2 parallel contact strips on the actual board of the crossfader itself which becomes clear once you have broken it down. It removes all residue/carbon buildup and makes them feel like new again, tight cuts, smooth, no bleed ect, just be careful when bending the 4 tiny metal clips back which you need to do to remove the metal crossfader housing from the top of the board to get at the 2 parallel contact strips you need to clean.

I have the S11 and I can’t seem to find a good setting for cut lag. I was wondering where do you like to keep yours set at?? Thank you

Cool! I've found a fifth setting for the Magvel Fader Pro in the DJM-S9 and S11: the replaceable bumpers, so you can change the bouncing in the edges. But you have to remove the faceplate to change them. Below it, you can find a softer and a harder pair to the right to replace the default medium ones. You can find this in the mixer's manual. I must have bad equipment because when I set it to Sharp on a Traktor Kontrol S3 Mk 3 it does not respond as your curve settings. Additionally, the Jog wheel is tight. Meaning it is tough to spin and it doesn't have a tension adjustment.

How are those green Reloop needles holding up? Are they up to the Concorde Scratch/Digital standard? Can you share some feedback on them, looking to get a pair since they are the only ones available in my place (can order ortofon internationally, but these Reloop ones are easier to get at my place). Since I don't gig with turntables and only use them for lessons and videos, I can't really say how they will hold up. I have yet to replace the stylus after 3 years of having them, but I maybe use them 5 times a year.

4:18 when I adjust my cut lag setting in utilities it does not save it (DJM S9) Is there a way to save it so I don’t have to readjust it when I open serato?

The DDJ-REV10 does not exist. That was a rumor that started as a prediction prior to launch that did not come true. The official launched DJ controllers are the DDJ-REV1 and DDJ-REV7.

Switch your input selector on channel 4 to your computer. It's above the trim knob.
