Making bird toys is so fun! Here is a video on 4 really easy DIY bird toys that you can make right at home! Bird toys don't have to be complicated and your bird will still have fun playing with simple toys! You can make simple bird foraging toys with paper, straws, and some natural bird-safe twine!

So I made the paper straw toy and added my birds favourite treat inside and my bird can't resist playing with it. I made a million toys in the past but he did not enjoyed a single one so I did not had hope in this toy. But when I gave it to my bird, he played with it for hours *I made 6*. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. This was very helpful. Keep up the good work!

I just made the paper straw ones and the Bao! My budgies and cockatiel love them so much! In fact, they loved the straw ones so much they destroyed them in seconds! So I looped some on a piece of jute to keep them busy in their cages a little longer

Hi ! john ex patt here Thailand ive a male / female pair sun conures we also had a baby sunconure several months ago wich was decapitated by a snake as we keep them in huge.cages outdoors due to perfect climate . do take a peek if you choose so

planning on getting a Green-Cheeked Conure somewhere down the line. I'm trying to do all the research and things I'm going to need ahead of time, honestly my time frame is somewhere around 1-2 years. mostly because I want to make sure I have everything I'm going to need and I know what I am doing when I do finally purchase my Conure. I'm also holding off on a name until I know the little ones personality. I know each bird is different in terms of personality and disposition.

Love it, I am all about DIY :D Bird toys are so over priced on a lot of parrot websites. I tend to buy bulk toy parts and make my own toys, along with dollar store untreated wood items. Untreated sisal rope is also easy to buy in bulk at my local farm supply store!

Another easy toy is a paper straw, folded accordion style, and punched in each section. You can unfold to stuff, retold and put a cord through the holes. You can hang it or tie it to the side of the cage.

I’m making a few tonight and was wondering. I have a Quaker that’s been laying eggs. I don’t want to leave her out but I also don’t want her to try building a nest. Do you think these toys are ok for egg layers or should I only give them to my boys for now?

I've tried both making and buying toys for my two conures but they never seem to play with them or are outright afraid of them, even when I put food inside of them, at most the only thing they will do is poop on them. Do you have any advice on how to get my birds to engage with toys I bring them without being afraid?

Hi, I'm new in owning birds. I've a pair of budgies and one female lutino cockatiel. I so wanted to make toys for my birdies but I'm afraid if they swallow the paper or rope fiber.. so I just want to be sure, what if they swallow the paper?

I’d say provide them with some foot toys maybe some natural wood so it’ll keep them busy for a while or you could put them on your head 😊

How u have such a great bond with Ur birds I've a parrot from 6 year's he doesn't even stel up on my hand and is soooo scared of everything when I try to teach him step up he flies Away doesn't even listen to me he lands on fan and it's difficult to get him down he doesn't even talj what can I do plz tell how can I teach him to step up and not be frightened and come or fly to me when I call him🥺🥺

Curious question: Can you use shredded printer paper as a substitute for crinkle paper?

Great question! I’ve actually thought about this myself and decided that shredded printer paper is probably not as safe. If you look at the shredded printer paper, you’ll see that there’s a lot of fine dust from the paper being shredded. I’d be worried about birds breathing in the paper dust and I believe paper shredders have oil placed on the blades to help with shredding paper so I’d be worried about them ingesting the oil! Hope this helps!

I just put a whole popsicle stick in there cage with a clip and let me tell you that are so crazy over it! The toys l made for them in the past didn't work somehow they just like the sticks XD

Hi!! You got it! 😊 and plastic straw wrappers should be fine since it’s just paper and the plastic straws should be safe too! I would keep an eye on the plastic straws if you use it and remove it if it looks like your bird is biting small pieces from it!

thats great! 😊 you dont really have to modify the second or fourth toy so you can make it exactly as i did! you might have to hold the first and third toys for your budgies to play with unless you can find a way to hang them!
