Mr. Fowler definitely has to much fun charading the struggles of a yankee hunt. It was 20 degrees leaving the stand today and the other day I had anatomical retraction in my lower half after setting up a tree stand in the forty degree rain. Keep laughing Mr. Fowler and remember to slap on your SPF 30 before you next pursue Ms. Piggy.

Been watching your vids since the THP podcast. Last year I shot a super light weight arrow with a expandable, hit one in the stomach and still didn’t get a pass through. Adopted your arrow set up and it sure worked! G5 Montec 100g with 150g inserts on a 30 in arrow, about 515 or 530 grains I don’t remember. Plus a really good arrow flight and we were able to get it done! Last night shot a 8 pt at 40 yds with my bow shooting 60 lbs at 28 in and it entered in the last few ribs, broke a rib, continued through liver and heart, exited the chest cavity, and then continued to score and almost crack his offside shoulder before he cracked the arrow in half. He made it another 30 yds and piled up, never saw that much trauma on a deer shoulder with a bow. I actually thought he had been hit with a car or already shot or something when I pulled the fur down. Then I realized it was my arrow doing that! Thanks so much for the help of figuring out this setup it seems like it’s pretty good😂 Great vids and again thank you!

I cannot imagine why some people would be so idiotic as to get all pissy because a guy makes money off his passion and his name... Like, what would be the argument that would cause someone to get pissed off because he's making some money??? Lol I mean, after all, he's the one taking his time to make videos. Putting in the legwork and the research, then happily sharing info with the archery world. Editing, material costs, camera equipment, burning through arrows and consumables, time away from other things he could be doing to make money, bow wear and tear, with gas and traveling - ALLLL costs money... But, even if it didn't cost money, who in the hell is gonna down another man because he's working toward getting ahead in life!? Hell, I'm excited for him to finally begin being able to start seeing returns on his hard work and effort! 💪🏽

I switched over to adult arrows 🏹 this year with a 2 blade 175 grain VPA up front hand sharpened . Yesterday I shot a buck at 33 yards from the ground and passed completely through and the deer really didn't know what happened and barely ran anywhere. I shot a piebald doe a week ago and same thing, she literally didn't make it 15 yards.
@Skelstoolbox
@Skelstoolbox 3 жыл бұрын
I get his system and it sounds great. High FOC and increased weight with a solid cut on contact broadhead, but my issue is 99% of the shooting I do is at targets or 3D. And I shoot a 400 grain as well as some 380 grain arrows without any issue. Couldn't be more accurate and fly like darts. I guess I just like shooting fast and flatter trajectories. I don't think I could be happy with only shooting 140 fps with such heavy loads as Ranch Fairy does. I still get buckets of penetration at my bow club targets (10 inches) and have to pull them out with two hands. I can't imagine more.. He wrote me and claimed I'd be even more accurate with heavier arrows, but that slow of speeds? I might as well shoot my recurve then..
@RohannvanRensburg
@RohannvanRensburg 3 жыл бұрын
There is a case to be made for blood trails with larger game but my theory is the same -- heavy 2 blade arrow, try and get a pass through. The deer doesn't freak out because something is stuck in it and it doesn't hurt that much. I had a buck jump on me (terrible timing, was going after a doe) with my longbow and I got a pass through but missed the lungs. He ran downhill, and came back not 2 minutes later to go after the doe again. Quickly lost consciousness, bedded down, and died. It's like it didn't even care that it was shot.

@mossyhornhunter7022 3 жыл бұрын
@@RohannvanRensburg so far that's been my experience, they really don't realize what happened because it's so sharp . It doesn't create any shock so they run a couple yards and stop to look around, then fall over.

@@RohannvanRensburg Often they don't know what has just happened. I hear an arrow wound feels like a bee sting if it passes right thru. I shot a sitka blacktail (our deer species on the west coast) and my 400 grain totally passed thru, smashing thru shoulder blade an all.. I heard the snap. The deer went back to eating because it didn't know what had happened. Didn't even run 10 yrds..

@@Skelstoolbox and then you touch up the edge a little bit and put them back in the quiver. The VPA's I have are incredibly well built , not a bit of damage with either deer and fly like a field point.

You got it Troy 😎 After setting up most of both Ed and my Arrows fir his study here in Aus (Pest discovered he had a very willing slave and could just teach/instruct lol) 4 Fletch just took out all the hassle. We had mulriple points, broadheads and, shafts from POC to Purple Heart set for bows from 35lb to 100lbs and of course there were the Aluminums, Carbons, Alaskan range, and some weird experiments Ed set up because "someone' would ask "But Ed, what if....?" (**NEVER ask the Doc a question if you're not prepared to travel down that side trail 😂😂), How many arrows? Well, I've still 25 doz made for my bows and I sent Ed's over to him with rest of his gear when he couldn't return😪. Rounding off: I found 4 fletch meant 1. Could use ANY broardhead on any shaft. 2. Didn't have to look at the arrow when I'm following up so I can keep eyes on my pig or buffalo (I'm not into pain - I'm a GIRL) 3. Gave me more confidence in the arrow flight. All I had to do was aim, nock and release😎 4. They also drive people bananas when you use the hunting Arras (with Points of course) in a Comp because you ran our of time to make your pretty, lightweight arras😇) *shoot just fine - even when they're so slow you can run beside them😂 I only have trad bows now but at the time I shot these plus my Compound and a few Crossbows. I've misplaced my notebooks on my personal setups bur Ed has all that in his study anyway, but same arrows were set to shoot off all the bows regardless if it were myself, Ed or Friends who just wanted to help 👍 KISS Treatment

I still don't really like it. So from what I've heard you say, it does in deed need to be centered. I've also seen where guys adjust their sight after paper tuning then sight the pins in... Any guidance is well appreciated.

I love to four fletch my arrows and when I do I after tuning my arrows. ( paper tune ate about 5 yards to bullet type holes with very little tear left to right or up and down I like to fletch them so that rather the vanes or feathers look like an x configuration on the string but I also love a slight helical twist with them to allow a slow spin but now that I am shooting a center shot triangle bow, is this advisable to do or should I just shoot a strait fletch it shoots the arrow between the limbs of the bow. And the second question I wanted to ask is that on another video that you made about tapingyour nocks to your. Arrows I don't have any electrical tape right now but will duct tape do cut down to thinner strips or would that be both to much and to heavey?

I've used four vanes over the years several times and I honestly believe they will stabilize flight and it seems to help in a slightly longer flatter trajectory? With my home tests I got hits at 30 yards consistently 2-3" higher hen using identical arrows except 3 and 4 vane. IMO it's not worth the trouble for shots under thirty. Especially at 15-18 yards like Troy likes. Don't even need vanes at that distance.

Would it be more effective to run a lighter arrow ( 486 gr) that has structural integrity with a 20 precent foc or a 527 gr arrow that has structural integrity with a 15 percent foc. Both fly great using single bevel broadheads

Have you been using 4 fletch at 90 degrees ot the 75 105 mix? I would assume 90 for easy indexing without having to refletch for clearance

Do you know if Magnus has any plans for a 200 grain broadhead? I got the 150gr Killer Bee but would have gotten 2 hundos if they had them.
