A place of myth and legend, the "Mountains of the Moon" have long captured Dev's imagination. Standing 5109m tall, they present a formidable challenge for climbers, being very technical in nature and needing crampons and ropes on the summit day to cross the glacier to the summit.
It is one of the sources of the Nile river (depending on which book you read) and has incredibly unique terrain and plant life.

Hi Michael. Yes it was caused by the altitude, and based on the terrain and the lack of emergency services, it didn't seem like a good idea to go any higher.
