A disassembly and subsequent test of the cheapest Ku-band LNB I could find.

If your oscillator drifts, just use SDR console, which has a separate software receiver permanently synched up to the beacon, making it very stable, because it will compensate the drift entirely! Here you can see how well it works ... free smart software will keep you from having to invest into an expensive stabilized/locked oscillator. Apart from the AM/FM co-channel canceling tool for broadcast DX-ing, I would always prefer other software like SDR Console, SDR++ and SDRAngel, because they have not being created by a person who actively stopped supporting the popular good bang for the buck MSI001 and MSI2500 based receivers that offer more dynamic (12 Bit) and bandwidth (up to 10MHz with reduced dynamic) while using far less USB current for a similar price as RTL-SDRs, though the very cheap ones may have more or less imaging and noise problems in some bands.

I've used SDR console before to do this, and I'll include it once I do a video about QO-100 specifically. In this case I didn't want the correction to see how stable the LNB is on its own. I also own an Msi based SDR, but I want to mainly focus on RTL-SDR and Nooelec receivers as those have the best software support and most people own them
