you can get 6-8 5X7 paint sample sheets. Tape them at eye level. (Choose at least 6.) then as you observe how they look with different natural light through out the day. you can remove the ones that you do not like. You can really narrow it down without painting. I taped them to my maple cabinets because the natural wood affects the color too. This is how I picked the PERFECT robins egg blueish greenish grey for my kitchen. It was perfect with the grey in the marble countertops. Good-luck yall.

The same color can look totally different on different walls in the same room too.

First room (with the red rug) merely went from crass to bland. Good work with the red stripe sequence, though.

I think that when designers show the results they have to photograph it in very bright light to show the detail and not have people squinting to see the room. I'm sure the same room at night with lamps on looks very cozy and inviting.

Let’s just paint everything gray and white. That way there is no color, just monochromatic blah. White is good if you don’t have kids or love to clean all day.
