Adam, great video, outstanding fishing for sure! Do yourself a favor and find a decent glove that works for you and buy a case of them. Split them up into ziplock bags and hide them in your dry locker ON THE BOAT!! You never know when the next big tangle is going to happen - you don't always get a "do over" when it comes to severing fingers or hands. You've got a good thing going with Movin' Weight and your boys. Keep catching and be a good steward of the ocean! Peace.

I've never gone for wahoo so dont roast me..but why maintain such a high speed the whole time after the hook up? I understand after the initial run but then it seems to extend the fight and pressure?

Multiple reasons to go fast - 1) because they have MULTIPLE lines out at the same time, and there MAY be a school that will all hit at the same time, but not if they slow down. 2) if they keep the speed up, the hooked fish won't be able to overcome the straight drag behind the boat, otherwise they zig-zag across the other lines and make a terrible tangled up mess. All this gear is SUPER tough, so they're not going to bust any lines. 3) It wears down the fish, after a few minutes, they can just reel-in in a straight line with the fish essentially skipping across the water straight back to the boat, all while continuing to fish the other lines. They finally slow down just long enough to gaff, then back up to speed again. Well-oiled machine.

I like the deep diving Nomad DTX 200-220 if you don’t want to deal with weights. Large Islander style lures with Horse ballyhoo and trolling weights. If you don’t run electric or a down rigger.

Same with Marlin, keep it tight. There's probably a hole worn in their mouth already and the hook will fall out with any slack

I may not know much about high speed trolling for 'hoos, but it seems that maybe you are keeping the speed up a bit too high after hookup if all the fish are dead by the time you land them. Never seen that before.

Actually most guys keep the speed up to drive the hook home, and if they’re coming up dead the chances of them shaking their heads and shaking the hook go way down. When we troll at 9kts w a mixed spread we miss a lot of strikes

Agreed he needs to slow down a little. Up in the northeast we get them on the troll at 7 mph and we slow down to idle. They can’t reel them in efficiently when they are dragging the fish so hard they are spiraling around. Probably why it takes them so long to get them in.
