That's why I plan to go vietnam 🇻🇳 next year. I was had 23 hours layover at vietnam this late May. And I just realized there lot of Vegan and vegetarian restaurant here. And also lot of temple as well. I will visit vietnam during Tet 2024. See you soon vietnam 🇻🇳

Van, as a naturalized Chinese-American who was born in Hong Kong, I share many of your sentiments between the 2 countries, the birthplace and the USA. The difference is that you are young (and beautiful, if you may forgive me speaking of the truth) whereas I am in the twilight of my life. I remembered the “boat people” who settled in Hong Kong in the early 80s. It is very sad what war brought to humanity. It is equally triumphant to see Vietnam rising from ashes and on her way to becoming the phoenix of SE Asia. You, as a young and upcoming pillar to your country has a long and harsh road to go. I wish nothing but the very success to you. Yêu.

That’s impressive if they are actually doing that. The Pho place I worked at cooked the tofu in the same stuff as they cook meat stuff, and a lot of places in Japan I noticed say it’s “vegetarian” but they used a fish base still and what not. Definitely a lot of work to make vegetarian versions of those delicious dishes, they look great.

Love The Joi Factory's decor, so interesting how they have brought the interior design of a home to a restaurant to give that cozy vibe, gotta say contemporary Vietnamese architects and designers are incredibly creative. Oh and the quote from heal and celeb is so inspiring as well, Van your curation has been amazing. From the title, I thought this was nation-wide, but all four restaurants are in HCMC. Your description also indicates all in HCMC. Not complaining, just pointing it out. My mom's company was in "quan nhat" and I lived in "quan Binh Thanh," so, I was familiar with and traveled both. But that was 1995, almost 30 years ago.

thank you! im vegan, from Peru and i live in Saigon, veganism is a ethical position who against animal cruelty, is 100% for animals, is not a healthy lifestyle...this is plant based or vegetarians, vegans we dont use cosmetic tested in animals, leather, ride elephants horses, support aquariums, zoos, etc, as plant based or vegetarians do, veggie saigon is my fav restaurant here, thank you for the information! i will go to this restaurants! an thuan chay! khong sua! khong trung! Nice introduction, Van. Veggies helped to keep Vietnamese women slim & attractive. I am wondering what's the ingredients in the broth & dipping for the veggie dishes. In my country, we have a veggie dish called 'lei char' (pounded tea rice). The broth is made from basil leaves, mugwort leaves, mint leaves, coriander leaves, peanuts, sesame seeds, peppercorns, and tea leaves., which are grinded and pounded into herb paste. The paste is then mixed with some boiling water into a thick broth & is served together in a bowl to be drenched into another bowl of rice topped with several sides of vegetables, peanuts, soya beans & tofu.

Hey! i have watched many of your videos as i am visiting Vietnam in the first week of May , with my wife. There's a lot of vegetarian restaurant in vietnam but it's quite difficult to find vegetarian menu that allium free (such as onion, garlic, leek, shallot, spring onion). I see all the broth they cook with it. Do you have any suggestion how can I tell the seller if I don't want my food contain allium?

Do the Vietnamese eat a lot of hot Peppers? meaning when ordering let them know few chilies or no chilies.. What about ginger root? I like Asian food containing ginger.
