I love cold weather camping! It was my favorite thing to do as a Scoutmaster. You need 3 things that will keep your spirits up and keep you warm: Hot coffee, hot food and a hot fire. I've slept in below freezing in just my mummy bag and next to the fire and slept like a king. I even shaped the snow below me to be more ergonomic. Oh! And if you ever sleep on the snow like that, put some insulation between your sleeping and the snow. The first time I did this the snow melted under me and turned into a pond. By the time I realized what was happening I was soaked and all the heat had been drained out of my body. It sucked!! It also helps to place some insulation between your tent and the ground. You're doing what so many grown men would love to do. Thanks for taking us along for the adventure!! Loving every minute of it!!
