And if you have kids, get them swimming as early as possible! My parents had me in the YMCA pool before I was 6 months old. It's obviously smart from a safety standpoint, but it also fosters a lifelong love of swimming and being in the water.

I recently got back into swimming and I’m in my late 40s. I feel like exhaling through my nose helps me breathe better in general out of the pool. And possibly even sleep better with better breathing at night during sleep.

I have started to learn this skill at 32years now. It's been 10 days now that I have been swimming, I am facing difficulty with stiffness in my body. I can breathe by turning my head, but the moment I turn my head, my legs start to sink and I unconsciously stop kicking.

Honestly, I feel like it's easier to change your breath when you got the speed in water, unlike this video where you learn to catch breath without actually moving at first which makes your body sink once you turn head sideway. Focus on the body movements first(strokes, kicks), then sideway breathing will become much more easier and natural.
@toofine6
@toofine6 Жыл бұрын
Right. Also, rotate the hips a bit as one pulls into the breath. Swimmingvglat makes side breathe more difficult.

The guy in the video wasn't pointing his toes when he kicked. Make sure to point your toes. Also a common mistake is to kick from your knees. Make sure you are kicking from your hips and thighs. Your knees should only bend a little bit when you kick. Also, it isn't necessary to kick a bunch. Most of your forward motion when swimming freestyle comes from your pull.

I learned to swim by myself and this is how! You have to hold onto the side of the pool keep your head up and just kick your legs constantly! Then let go of the side of the pool and keep kicking your legs, you never start swimming after you do this strategy once, you have to do it constantly, and then when you do eventually you will start swimming!!
