It's a skill you just need to practice to figure out. Try only opening 1 side of your mouth - the one that is the higher cheek toward the surface of the water. Keep the other side of your mouth closed, that way you're not letting any water in. It takes some getting used to!

How did the guy in the video take a breath with his nose still submerged? That part gets me the most because everytime I take one with half of my face submerged, I’m scared I’ll chug water with my nose 😢
@suyashp8249
@suyashp8249 11 ай бұрын
You don't breathe in through your nose at all. While swimming, the nose should only be used for exhaling underwater. While inhaling, use only your mouth. No chance of water going in your nose if you don't inhale through your nose.

the wake created by your head should make a wave for you to breathe. You can practice this w fins by kicking on your side with one arm reached out. you need to be going at a decent speed to create that wake. Goodluck :) @@tribeverage7268

Breathing: The instruction given is one eye above the water and one eye under the water, which practically is difficult. Since a half mouth is still covered by water, therefore inhaling leads to swelling a little water anyway. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@myswimpro
@myswimpro 11 ай бұрын
Hi Jonathan! The instruction is a cue to try to stay as in line and low in the water as possible, so you may have a little bit of your other eye peeking out if you're still getting used to breathing to the side. If you move your mouth to one side, you can keep the water out. It takes some practice!

Kicking is the key, whether you’ll swim longer or exhaust quickly. You have to coordinate your hands and legs, practise it so that your body subconsciously moves. I think this is something I’ve learned over my training period.

@sq5
@sq5 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelsingh843Keep exhaling out of your nose as you turn to breathe. Do not lift your head up to breathe, or to turn back into the water. Also, work on your breathing position, specifically what you are doing with your leading arm, (keep it straight out the front while you are breathing), and the angle of your head, (ear in the water, water line cutting along the edge of your mouth and the edge of your goggles, head turned slightly back towards the shoulder of the arm that is behind you). Also, make sure you have turned your hips when you turn to breathe. It is extremely hard to breathe on the side if your hips are still directly facing down to the bottom of the pool. There's a lot more to it, not knowing your body position, what you are doing with your arms and legs, etc, but hopefully these few tips help. I recommend using a kickboard to practice until you can breathe without water going up your nose, after practising these tips, before trying without one again.
