In this video I explain how to make dark, mysterious bass melodies like you find in Alex Niggeman's "Materium" track. You'll see the role of the arpeggiator and secret hack to make Ableton's stock arp play dotted eight notes 😂

Dipped my toes in techno production 8 months ago and gave it up when my tracks sounded like dog shit, discovered your videos and have been slowly getting back into it and feeling inspired. Highly undervalued channel right here, your videos are rich with knowledge, easy to understand and comprehend, and straight to the point. Best of luck with your success man, absolutely loving these tutorials

Tell me about it. I unfortunately paid for PLM and I wish I could give that money to Underdog. I will be joining his patreon because I feel guilty for the 1-excellent quality of tutorials 2-the way Oscar teaches things. It is f-ing amazing. Oscar, you're the best. PS will be comparing PLM Vs Underdog on Reddit.

Really appreciate these videos. I use Reason 10 and jam live on the Digitone occasionally, and I find these tutorials help me get inspiration for new ideas. So much in this genre is about the timbre and rhythm of the sounds. Melody is typically secondary.

I started experimenting with melodic/moving/walking bass-lines a while back. Now it’s everything I do in my music. I tried applying static bass-lines from time to time but it just didn’t sound as good. It sounded way to dull and robotic. I encourage everyone to experiment with melodic basslines. It really is a gamechanger that will take your music to new levels

In the arrangement review, if you zoom enough to see 16th notes then select a sixteenth note segment, the bottom of the window will display the time in milliseconds for a 16th note at that tempo. So you don't need to use your calculator. 😉

I feel I NEED to start using Ableton finally, upon learning of its workflow capabilities (dropping automations, etc). I've used Fruity Loops since version 2.8 / 3. so I know it damn near like a dev. I've learned to maneuver its shortcomings without losing my train of thought, but I'm starting to think I'm still missing out on something REALLY helpful and powerful. Can anyone confirm this? Any dual-citizens out there with FL and Live? Should I begin the transition? Its a big decision, I need some advice/input.
