3 жыл бұрынVanderbilt and NC State played the sixth game of their side of the bracket in the 2021 College World Series. Vanderbilt needed a win to force a winner-take-all Game 7 on Saturday, while NC State had an opportunity to advance to the CWS Finals with a win.

BREAKING: The NCAA has declared Saturday’s NC State-Vanderbilt Game a no-contest due to Covid-19 protocols. As a result, Vanderbilt will advance to the College World Series Finals, starting Monday night.

I don’t really like to throw out random ass conspiracy theories, but had this been Texas or Vandy, ONE THOUSAND PERCENT this would’ve been postponed due to hype around them. NC State was absolutely fucking robbed and this was incredibly terrible to see, because it was such an amazing story. Seriously frustrating to see.

Vandy alum here. This is very unfortunate. I feel terrible for NC State. I really don't understand why the game couldn't be postponed for at least 1 day. With so many false positives (see the NHL playoffs), at least postpone for a day (or two!) to try to have an actual playoff. what a shame.

Imagine if a high profile team like Vanderbilt or Texas has positive tests, I bet they'd postpone the tournament. What a joke they completely screwed the hottest team in the nation. I love that they still almost beat a full strength Vandy team though even with pitchers fielding. Hopefully they beat the brakes off vandy next game.

There is absolutely no risk for college baseball players that test positive for covid if they have no symptoms. Keep them away from fans or other people but if they arent actively sick... they shoukd be able to play. Literally millions of teenage and 20-30 year olds have played sports for the last year with no accounts of serious consequences.

Extremely unfortunate for the Wolfpack. Even though I'm a Tennessee fan and supporter, I liked this NC State squad and thought they had a legitimate chance to win it all. Gotta say, Devonte Brown made one of the best catches ever in a CWS yesterday. Yeah, this sucks for NC State and its fans. Hope the Wolfpack will rebound and have another great season in 2022.

Honestly the fact that Vandy had to try to play small ball to beat a 13 man team speaks to the effort those NC State boys put in. There will be no true winner, no cws champion now that one team left the season without being defeated from it and not choosing to leave. So it essentially makes the whole season moot. Enjoy the finals contest as if it were just another regular season game.
