4 week Puppy Potty Training

Early puppy potty training involves giving the puppies a suitable place to use the potty. A litter box with Pine Pellets has many advantages. hi! how do you transition from this method of potty training to training them to go outside????

The puppies start to go outside at 5 week. Just once a day weather permitting. and they usually go potty as soon as they smell the grass and all the earthy smells. But they still use the litter tray too. By the time they go home they are very familiar with outside potty. At that time new owners start the potty schedule. @@recklessgamer4890 I have a video where I show a new potty tray with a grate. And the pellets fit under it. So the puppies can’t eat them. My pups don’t seem to eat the pellets. But they did knock them all over creating a mess. So that’s why I got the tray with the metal grate. Hope that helps!

I have 9 puppies here with mom who are almost 2 weeks old. I still have them in the kiddie pool but will be making a new setup by 1 week. What age should I start with trying the litter training? Thank you for your video. PS this was not a planned breeding so I am not set up for this

Two weeks is the time to move them out of the pool because they will soon be climbing out. I usually put the litter tray in the pen at 3 weeks. If you just have room for the bed and the tray they will have no trouble using it. After that they will walk about 1 foot to go potty for each month of age.

@@growingpuppies1773 Thank you so much. How long does mum keep feeding them and how often? I am looking all this up but it's nice to have someone doing it share insight... So I can set up a little bed with litter outside it with enough space to walk around a bit.? And then a separate space for when mum comes in to feed and then eventually their own food. Or should I just have this all in one pen with litter close to puppy bed?

Moms nurse puppies freely for 4 weeks. At that time you start introducing puppy mush. Wet it ahead of time and grind it in a blender so they can lick it up. By 5 weeks the pups can move to a pen and you can start control IG how often Mom feeds them. The goal is to wean them by 6 weeks so they can have there first puppy shots at the vet. Don’t let them nurse after shots because Immunities in the mothers milk will mess up the shots. By 7 weeks pups can eat dry kibble. They go home at 8 weeks. Hope that helps!
