.40 is still my preferred carry round. It’s good to see these performances.
@ryanjofre5 ай бұрын
.357 Sig is outstanding(outperforms 10mm ime) and you can run .357 sig in your .40 with just a barrel change. Forget about the 9mm rhetoric about increased terminal performance, increased capacity and the flat out lie About less bullet development with .40s&w. With a great load like these Winchester Ranger T’s(bonded ammo) it’s a 1 shot and they’re done deal many times with .40 My M&P 1.0 holds 15 rounds in the mag, that’s a hellava lot of capacity. Godspeed
@johnw4999 Жыл бұрын
As a former LEO, at the agency I worked for the longest, we carried the 180 gr. Ranger-T and a G22 Gen 3. This proved to be a very effective threat stopper! The biggest BG was over 6’2 and well over 300 lbs. He took 3 COM and was sipping tea w his maker before his carcass hit the deck! Another guy robbed a liquor store and got in to a shootout during a traffic stop. He took a round through the knuckle on the hand pointing a gun at the LEO, and the projectile filleted his arm wide open like a fat, puffy lobster tail and exited at the elbow. The cartridge was a mild shooting one and rapid shots were easy. Also, it punched through windshields and other auto glass and vehicle doors (within reason) just fine. Not all LEOs are shooters and couldn’t handle the phenomenal 10mm Norma Spec ammunition. Ultimately, this led to the .40, and still, too many couldn’t shoot this well. Now too many are shooting 9mm and it’s once again proving fairly anemic on the streets especially as ranges increase. Also, it’s taking more rounds on target to stop aggressive threats. Sure, there’s issues of yesteryears guns not handling 10mm Norma, and the Glock Gen 3 will handle .40… just change the RSA appropriately. Additionally, agency budgets are a real thing, and 9mm is simply cheaper. For shooters wanting the best defensive cartridge, it’s the 10mm loaded to Norma spec followed by .40. The .45 is still viable, but for the most part, limited capacity. I prefer 15 as a base line.
@ProudPatriot19446 ай бұрын
Yep, and people forget from the FBI tests saying 9mm is adequate that the FBI was using modern HPs +P out of a 4.5 inch barrel. That's a little different than a regular or low recoil 9 coming from a 3 inch barrel subcompact that a lot of people carry.
@johnmorganjr7696 ай бұрын
Thank you, good real life results.! 🇺🇸 🙏 👍
@ryanjofre5 ай бұрын
This rhetoric about 9mm increased terminal performance has become dangerous with Tons of people abandoning .40 for 9mm or buying 9mm for their first instead of buying a .40 they could shoot just as well in many peoples case. Also, the downright lies that their is allot more bullet development for 9mm and that their hasn’t been bullet development recently for .40 is dangerous. The capacity argument for 9mm is absolute bullshit as well! My M&P 1.0 holds 15 rounds of .40 or .357 Sig which is only 2 rounds less than a 9mm with less real world stopping power as you and I both know. Even Sig Sauer themselves has abandon their own outstanding invention .357 Sig and stopped making ammo for it. Sig is laughing all the way to the bank with all the 9mm’s their selling! Godspeed
@ProudPatriot19445 ай бұрын
@ryanjofre people just read the FBI report blindly. They don't look at the data for themselves or critically think about it. The same bullet designs in a 9mm are in every other caliber. Yeah, 9mm may be a more effective round now and may be a decent base line. But that also means every other caliber gets the same bump. And given that I'm not a commando or body guard putting down suppressing fire with my pistol, I would much rather make sure each round is as effective as possible for the frame I'm carrying. If I need a small, pocketable gun, a 9mm+p probably is the better option, especially given that most micro .40s etc. are no longer made except for smith and wesson shield. But if I can carry even Glock double stack subcompact size, give me the .40 or .357 sig.
@ryanjofre5 ай бұрын
@@ProudPatriot1944 If I was doing security where laying down suppressive fire as you said would word I’d happy with a full Size MP-5 (a high quality semi auto clone from MKE would be fine) with a side folding or telescoping stock, hi quality sling, suppressor, HK German made 30 round mags & a bonded HP like Hornady critical duty or Win. Ranger talon. The HP’s need it be tested extensively and the Mp-5 needs to properly broken. 9mm gives your more with more barrel length. In fact, for optimum performance with 9mm you need a 16” barrel so pistol caliber caribe’s aren’t actually a joke! A 15 shot Full size .357 Sig or .40 (or a Compact Glock) with fancy ass loads to backup the MP-5 and a lightweight 5 shot Ruger LCR with 125 grain .357 mag bonded HP’s in an ankle holster to backup the Full-size or compact. The recoil on the LCR is ALLOT but I use is as an emergency backup only or a fishing/camping piece. If it wasn’t for the lesser capacity and cumbersome size I’d 100% opt for a .357 Magnum 8 shot revolver with 6” barrel ..non-ported is great with 125 grain binder HP’s again. Even after all these years the .357 Magnum is a phenomenal performer and especially with a longer barrel. With all of the amazing HP’s to choose from nowadays the 125 grain Load is a serious man stopper that can penetrate doors and windshield very well with a bonded bullet like Win Talon or Hornady critical duty as I’ve mentioned previously. I’m 44 now, I’ve been shooting since I was 12 in the scouts. My best friend and I are fortunate to be born and raised in Albuquerque NM. We use to drive to the desert and conduct lots of real world ballistic tests on a regular basis in the early 2k’s. We concluded that AR-15s are highly reliable as long as they’re are properly lubricated, 12 Gauge Rubber buckshot is amazing, 7mm Rem mag is the best balance of range, recoil, cost and ballistic coefficient in the magnum calibers, good ole .308 is awesome and the slightly increased penetration and range of .30-06 isn’t worth the longer action vs .308 & we also concluded…… ……As long as one can handle the sharp recoil of .40 it absolutely blows 9mm out of the water and with the proliferation of full size .40’s holding 15 and High quality .40 compacts the extra 2 rounds with Full size 9mm vs .40 isn’t worth it! You can even use .40 for defense against Bears with the amazing 130 Grain Woodsman from G9 ammo. It’s expensive as hell but it’s nasty and the penetration is confidence inspiring. 100% not for home defense, to much over penetration. I’ve shot and tested allot of .357 Sig over the years. It’s a fantastic load. It didn’t accomplish the goal of .357 Magnum revolver ballistics from an auto but it came close enough to impress. The Recoil with .357 Sig is not scary or bad for newbs contrary to popular myth! It’s an absolute disgrace that Sig stopped making the ammo. They’re tl busy selling overpriced 9mm’s as fast as they can. I miss my Sig P226 9mm. It’s one of the greatest semi auto pistols ever made but I don’t like it in .40. If you Check Gunbroker you can find awesome deals on Full-size & Compact Glocks & M&P’s because of the immense demand for 9mm and pathetic demand for .40/.357 Sig. New full size M&P CORE pistols that should be selling for $750 shipped are going for $480 shipped. God bless you and yours form a god loving USA Patriot and family man who’s hurting something fierce as I lost my magnificent father 3 months ago. 🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

I want these so badly in 45 and 9mm but they're never in stock. The T Series is a bonded bullet jacket that will absolutely give you more penetration with obstacles like car doors. As such, it’s absolutely dangerous for defending your home if you have a family. One needs to train for this or ideally go with a different load! Winchester gives law enforcement a good price on this ammo and conversely overcharges on the bonded PDx1 Defender ammo, it’s obscenely expensive!😱 Those bullets mushroomed beautifully, outstanding ammo. The 180grain is absolutely my favorite.
