This whole series of videos missed my favourite age facts: Anakin was 23 in RotS, and Luke was 23 in RotJ. So Luke in RotJ is basically who Anakin could/should have been if he had rejected Palpatine. They were both tempted by him at the same age. Also, this means that Vader was 46 and exactly twice Luke’s age he died. This also means that Anakin lived exactly half his life as Anakin Skywalker and half as Darth Vader. Talk about balance...

One fact that you didn't mention that blew my mind is that if Ahsoka was 4 when Anakin became an apprentice that means Anakin's Padawan has been in the order longer then he has.

If I'm not mistaken, if my recollection serves me correctly, I think that was another factor that made most of the Jedi Council re-reconsider Anakin's entry into the order. They felt he was too old.

The aging effect of UV tends not to kick in until your 20s, so it's totally plausible for a 19yo on Tantoine to look 19 but a 57yo to look 70. However it follows that Lars & Baru were probably a lot younger than they looked...

And Sidious and Plageius were partners for a long time b4 The Phantom Menace...also Darth Maul wasn't an actual Sith Lord he was just a 'well-trained tool' that Palpatine hoped to use in order to take over the mantle as 'Dark Lord of the Sith'. Notice. Darth Maul was really only trained in lightsaber combat and aggressive forms of combat...Also he was only really referred to as 'Darth Maul' 1 time...all other times it was "My Apprentice"..this is because Sith only refer to Sith as "Lord" or "Master" or maybe if they are equals.."Darth". All totally possible

Well, adding that with the 2 suns thing, Obi-Wan would be really old, also the 2 suns thing is real since in real life, people who stay outdoors on the sun too much actually gets their skins get older quicker, so that with 2 suns and the guilt and sleepless nights it makes sense now

When I heard that Vitiate was 1,483 years old in 3631 BBY, when he died his final death, it was that which REALLY blew my mind, considering that he was older than Maz Kanata, who herself is seventy years older than even Master freaking Yoda!

Mark Hamill was 25 when he filmed his scenes as Luke Skywalker in 1977. Harrison Ford was 27 when he played Han Solo in the original movie. Only Carrie Fisher was nineteen, like Princess Leia was supposed to be. I don't know, but Hamill actually looked nineteen when he was twenty-five, so he played a character six years younger than him very well.

The canon story "Master and Apprentice" reduced Quigon's age by about twelve years. So he was actually in his late forties when he died in canon. And Alec Guiness wasn't actually that much older than his character when playing Obi-Wan. Late fifties I believe. Plus Plo Koons age is in Kel Dor years, which were intentionally left ambiguous as it was a one off joke in a comic book. Oh, and they used Ezra's model for Luke in that scene in Rebels. Just some context I thought I might add.

Genetics plays a factor to longevity to a point and how you take care of yourself. And I'm assuming that being in touch with the lightside, at least with some Jedi, may stave off aging.

The new canon seems to be adjusting the ages of certain characters to match their real life counterparts. One example I really like is how Master and Apprentice made Qui-Gon Jinn about 47 in TPM, which is closer to Liam Neeson's actual age when the movie was released. The Solo Visual Dictionary also states that Han was born the same year as TPM. This means he's 32 in ANH, which is about how old Harrison Ford was when the movie was filmed. However, while his age is more accurate now, it also means there's a 13 year gap between him and Leia. Not a huge deal since that's their real life age gap, but still interesting when you think about it.

Technically, Ahsoka, until she left the order, was a Jedi longer than Anakin, yet Anakin almost reached the rank of master, while she never reached the rank of Knight. The dude really was a prodidgy.

She wasn't a real jedi longer than Anakin. She was not old enough to start training as a real jedi at 3 years old. She was made a padawan after him. She did reach the rank of Knight, but she left. She was only a padawan for 3 years.

The clone age thing isn’t as crazy when you remember that they are basically still 20 years old. It’s just that they were created 10 years ago, but they are mentally and physically twice that age

You also have to remember when it comes to the age difference between Obi-Wan and Ahsoka is Anakin probably hit Knighthood two years before Obi-Wan because he is the chosen one and was more powerful beyond his years which is also why he got an apprentice at a younger age plus we know that Yoda gave Anakin Ahsoka to teach Anakin to let go of attachments. And like you said the clone wars.

If the casting director had stood her ground and had Haley Joel Osment who was 12 as Anakin it would have been less gross. Instead Lucas didn't want an actor playing the role and it shows, the kid sucks the energy out of the room.

My favourite fact that is somewhat related to age, or rather moreso in timing, is that Leia got pregnant with Ben right after the end of Return of the Jedi, while they were still on Endor - Han and Leia married there shortly after and Ben was a wedding night baby. She was pregnant with him while, alongside Mon Mothma, rebuilding the entire government in the aftermath of the Empire's fall, and had him shortly after the ceremony which marked the official end of the Empire and the beginning of the New Republic - and when I say that I mean Leia was in labour for three hours before she told anyone cause she wanted to attend the event... So that woman was literally keeping a poker face while contracting, just so she could go to an event. Ben was born shortly thereafter. I love Leia so darn much... That is just such a Leia thing to do. 😂😂😂 Oh and another Leia related thing, The Resistance was formed during the Bloodline book, which took place only six years before The Force Awakens. She had been preparing for a storm for a while, but the actual organization was only six years old by TFA!

Abnormal for women, but it's known men can have kids well into that age. My great grandad was around that age when he had like his 13th kid. He was like 88 when he died and she was a teenager then.

Trust me it's way more common than you think I used my personal example because it's 1 of the more extreme situations but I know of plenty of others just in my small hometown who are dudes that had kids at 60 or close to it(be it older or younger) you see Mick Jagger had another kid 4yrs ago? At the age of 72? It's sas but us men don't stop spreading our seed around until it just can't get up anymore or we don't get up anymore 😐 and as long as the woman is young enough kids are still possible. That also could be why it's not just as common as could be because not many 70yr old dudes are getting it on with women who can still have kids heck a woman 20yrs younger than them is still most likely past child bearing age. Trust though if those old geezers could have a woman 30yrs younger instead? LOL

The line about not stopping our seed spreading until it can’t get up or we can’t was great lol 😂 I’d hate to go this deep into the semantics of my word choice, but the word abnormal means something that is not done by the majority...You can name examples all day but I’ll always be able to name more people within the demographic who didn’t do it, thus making it abnormal by definition. I’m not attaching any negative connotations to the word, just stating a fact. Contracting leukemia is not normal just because lots of people (from the perspective of an individual) have it. Owning a passport in the United States is considered abnormal because only 13% of Americans own one. That’s all I’m saying. Not disrespecting anyone’s life choices.

No he was not 23. He was born in 41 BBY and became Vader in 19 BBY which makes him 22 when he turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader. He died 23 years after in Luke’s arms at the age of 45, his son being 23 of course as both Luke and Leia were born when when their father became Darth Vader. When his children were 23 and he was 45 was the year 4 ABY

Technically, you are right. Anakin was 23 (born in 42 BBY) in 2005 in Legends and when ROTS came out. However, since 2014, Anakin's birth year is 41 BBY. So between 2002-2013, Anakin was 20 in AOTC and 23 in ROTS. In canon (since 2014), Anakin was 19 in AOTC and 22 in ROTS.

Qui-Gon’s age changed in Canon, he’s 48 years old. That’s close to Liam Neeson’s age in 1999.

In Episode III, Ian McDirmand is sixty or so years old, so he plays a character the same age as he should.

In Canon, Qui-Gon Jinn in not sixty. Instead, he is approximately forty-eight years old, as Disney says he was born in 80 BBY. While I'm a Legends fan, I think his age of forty-eight is much more believable than sixty, because that is how Qui-Gon looks like.

2:28 there's a slight chance (I'm not sure at which age younglings are usually take by the Jedi order, but I usually say 3) that Ahsoka was taken by the Jedi order BEFORE Anakin. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I probably am)

GalakStari Researched it. It’s because sources that were released during the prequels had his age at 20. Therefore, people concluded he had a birthday around the ending of TPM. Not really that big of a difference anyway. Anakin was a 9 year old kid when he debuted.

Stress makes you age quick. My Sgt Major in the military was around 40 but he easily looked 10-20 years older and that was universal for lifers. I could see Obi-wan constantly having stress with keeping up with security in and around Tatooine to keep Luke safe and hidden from dark forces.

About Anaking becoming a knight so young, I'm pretty sure that the jedi council knighted him when the clone wars broke out because they needed more jedi to help fight. That's also why Ahsoka was apprenticed to him and fought in the war at only fourteen because they were trying to push out as many jedi to fight as possible.

Well, as soon as you become a jedi you can teach a padawan. I think it worked for both ways. Ashoka was a very capable but hard headed youngling. Anakin on the other was immature and regards of his temper not so good of a Jedi but still The Chosen One. assigning Ashoka was the best choice because, fire fights fire. She would have a teacher who understands and encourages some of her actions and he would have a mirror hold into his face when she disobeyed his commands like he did with Obi Wan.

Great vid, I learned a lot. With that being said, there’s a few issues. u 1. How could you think Han was only 5 or 6 yrs older than the twins? The dynamic between him and Luke was closer to a young uncle and nephew rather than brothers. 2. Even though a desert planet can be harsh on the body, it was stated when Episode III came out that Obi-Wan’s aging was due more to the stress he went through. He looked 10 yrs older in III than in II, even though only 3 yrs had passed. 3. It should’ve been stated that this same reason was why Leia appeared to look older than Luke.

The Jedi remind me of old Karate masters. A lot of them that get to their older years look much younger than they actually are/were. Much like being a Karate practitioner, being a Jedi keeps you young.

Star Wars theory: Why Obi Wan might look older than his actual age in episode 4: The man Luke met in A New Hope was actually Obi Wan Kenobi Sr. Obi Wan Kenobi Sr had a son named Obi Wan Jr. Obi Wan Sr and Obi Wan Jr are father and son. In Revenge of the Sith, Obi Wan Jr is 38. Obi Wan Sr is 63 In A new Hope Obi War Jr is 57. Obi Wan Sr is 82. Obi Wan Sr just was hiding in the prequels. Obi Wan Jr just was hiding in the original trilogy.

Really? Well, Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor are two different people, but that doesn't mean that one of them is Sr. and another is Jr. Btw, the older Obi-Wan (or should I call him Ben) Kenobi is completely different from the Jedi Master we saw in the prequels.

Luke and Ezra are closer in age than you state. They weren't just born in the same year, but born on either the same day or with a day or so of each other. During Episode III Palpatine transforms the Republic into the new Empire we see in later films. Shortly afterwards he fights Yoda whilst Obi-Wan heads off and fights Anikin. It's after that second fight that Obi-Wan takes Padme away to give birth. Taking off-screen journey time into account, the time between the Empire being founded and Luke and Leia being born could be anywhere between a day and a few days apart. During the eighth episode of Season One of Star Wars: Rebels, we learn that Ezra was born on Empire Day, which celebrates the day the Empire was founded, and that he is fifteen years old. Ezra was born on the same day as the day Order 66 was issued, the same day that Palpatine created the Empire. He was born a day to a few days before Luke and Leia!

I think it's good for a master to be close to their padawan's age. Then the master can see a bit of themselves in their apprentice and reflect upon that and afterwards teach their padawan those very things.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: I know this would generate debate, but I feel that, in this time of war, we should forgo the trials and promote my padawan Anakin to Jedi Knight. Regardless, Anakin has been through many things more difficult than the trials. Surely he passed the Trial of Skill when he defeated that Dark assassin on the Fourth moon of Yavin. And he endured an atrocious Trial of the Flesh at the hands of Count Dooku. And he has continued to pass every test of Courage this war has dealt him. Yoda: By the right of the Council, by the will of the Force, I dub thee Knight of the Republic. Anakin Skywalker, rise. Now, a Jedi Knight you are. Anakin: When will I become a Master?
