I received these 40 year old penny rolls that were part of a massive collection at a bank in New Jersey. Every single coin is older than 1982 and some of them are over 100 years old! Some aren't even pennies at all! This is an absolutely epic coin roll hunt and I am super stoked to be able to bring it to you guys. Enjoy!

My mom always collected money. She passed away in February 2022. I found a small jar with wheat pennies. And I found some Morgan dollars and some silver quarters and some other random coins. She used to have a couple of check book boxes full of wheat pennies. Idk if she still has them, maybe in something still packed away. I used to buy her old coins. And after looking up a few of what she had left behind, that is why I watch these videos. I never realized how valuable they are. I remember my mom showing me a penny that had the markings of a dime. I wish I knew where she had it. And I hope that I didn't give it away or sell it. I don't think so but I didn't know to look at the pennies that were in with everything else at the time. Sorry for the long rambling comment. 😂. I just miss her and I get a little bit excited about her hobby now that I'm paying attention to it myself. 😂

My wife has 2 piggy banks that she filled before 1962. Her dad would bring her change for her banks every day when he came home from work. She would put all the silver and one bank and all the pennies and another.. when the banks were filled in 1962, her mother put them up in the crawlspace of their new ranch house. When her mother died in 2015, my wife and her sister cleaned out the house to sell it and they found the banks. The banks are a little smaller than a gallon of milk. They are completely full. My wife will not even let me catalog the coins in the banks for sentimental reasons. The reason she stopped putting money in banks in 1962 is, her dad took her to the bank and open a savings account when she entered first grade. And that’s where she put all her money after 1962.. her dad had a habit of saving silver dollars when he got out of the army after World War II. He paid cash for his cars with those silver dollars in the 50s and 60s.. in the mid 70s when I got hired with the company I just retired from. I bid on a job in the meter reading department just for the summer. I was tired of sitting at my drafting desk making changes to circuit maps.. I would find change on the ground practically every day back before credit cards and debit cards when people carried cash and change in their pockets. when I would walk through parking lots of malls and grocery stores where the snow plows would push the snow in the winter. One time I went to where the snow was melting on a hot day, I found over six dollars and change that day.. I also found $87 in bills, one of them was a five dollar silver certificate, and a $20 bill. all this money I found, I saved every penny and I have three banks completely full of all the coins that I found. I have the bills saved in an envelope in my safe.. I also have a piggy bank filled with Eisenhower silver dollars. When my wife and I first met, she worked for a large bank in the trust department. I told her to bring me 10 silver dollars every Friday. And all of them went right in my piggy bank just for the silver dollars. I still have everyone of them.. but they are Eisenhower silver dollars from the late 60s and early 70s… not really worth a lot I also bought $100 worth of Sacajawea dollars the day they became available at my bank. I only opened one of the rolls to see what they look like, the other three rolls I never opened.. One of these days, I’m going to go through those coins my wife has in her piggy banks that were filled before 1962 and catalog each coin

Just got 400 rolls of pennies from my great aunt. She passed away at 97 years old. Needless to say she collected pennies for over 60 years. After opening a couple of rolls, I found a complete roll(s) of 1939 and 1940. The roll paper is so fragile it's almost falling apart on it's own. Some rolls are from the Federal Reserve. I've also found a 1944-S sealed in a small plastic zip lock. It looks flawless. I found 1 roll of dimes with a 1963 ender on one end. I haven't opened it yet. Just hanging on to it for a while. Also found a 1964-S proof quarter uncirculated. There's 4 bags if coins stuffed into one huge canvas bag that reads FDIC Sunburst Bank on the outside of the bag. There's also a 24kt Gold 1oz. Coin of Donald Trump in a sealed case. Eventually, I'll take a few days to properly examine everything. For now, I just stare at the end old penny rolls and wonder what I might find. A 1931-S? 1943 copoer? 1944 steely? 1955 DD? Probably not.... but ima have a blast looking.

I've been collecting for years but just started yesterday. Having turned 65 and just retired i was looking for a new hobby. Then it came to me when i saw a glass jug and old candy jar that i have been throwing pennies in for years. I started in on the jug and so far 8 wheat cents and a lot of 60s 70s and up with one 2009 ( Lincoln taking a break ). I havn't even scratched the surface (no pun) of what has accumulated for the last 25 or so. Still fun looking closer at these pennies . Then it dawned on me that the mint puts out the best looking coins in the world. They are really good at it. Anyway i found my hobby. Cool video. Have a nice coin day.

The old 1 is a 1918 but i had to clean it because it was covered with a thick black substrate (?)and didnt know if it was a dime or penny. Its worthless ( worn down to a nub)but i had a good time dealing with a mystery. i'm almost half way thru on the jug. It's a big jug LOL . Have a nice coin day.

It's always so cool to hold an old coin. Take the 1918 for example. That coins was made at the end of the first world war and survived the second world war it was made before we walked on the moon and the us was nothing like it is today when it was minted. And even through all that it survived the past 104 years.

hello I just found you today. You are doing the same thing I was thinking about. I have a box of unc Lincoln cents 1970s and 1971s 25 rolls each year. I got them new at the bank when in high school. I found out about the DDOs and small dates from those years. I have preserved the authenticity of the MS condition all rolls are unwrapped.

The Kennedy (cents*)were a novelty stamp they sold a lot in the back of comic books in the 70s. At least I vividly recall them for sale. It was on or near the novelty Johnson Smith catalog page where they sold lots of gimmicks like x-ray glasses, joy buzzers. Jay Norris Co sold them, two for a dollar. They made a killing.

Thanks, that was nice to know. =} I had one kinda like that, but instead of Kennedy's face, it was a Free Mason symbol. Dont remember the year on it, it wasnt to old but the Free Mason symbol had me in awe.. Tried searching it but nothing came up, nobody had anything like it. well that was sharing their finding or knowledge of it anyway.. Sad part is it got stolen about 6 years ago along with my other Gems I had. I thought I'd never start up my hunt again, I was So crushed/hurt! @@karaenbody6703 The Masonic one with the square and compasses is a penny given to Freemasons when they're raised to Master Mason. It doesn't have to be a penny but 9.9 out of 10x it is. It's part of the whole story of becoming one. I got one when I was raised. The meaning and story behind it is part history, part myth and part symbolical. They're easy to lose being a penny.

QUIN, what is that wood grain. In the first wheatie… what causes that? I had a large jim beam bottle full of coins which I sorted found a hat box full of wheaties and about 2 pints of pre-30s wheaties and found a couple of those grained coins. found a few weird coins, a blank planchet too in the bottle, not to mention silvers.

Greetings from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Before Canada phased out the use of pennies a few years ago, I had been collecting any American pre-1959 'Wheaties' pennies I could find (schools having fund-raising 'Penny-Parades' were a good source!) Over the preceding decades, I managed to accumulate about 4200 of the U.S. 'Wheaties', as well as several of the 1943 steel pennies. Can you give a rough estimate as to how much these coins might be worth? Or should I just turn them back into the bank for their face value?

Hey buddy,I've recently gotten Re-interested in coins-having had a small collection as a kid,the losing interest when my collection came up missing. Anyway, I dig your enthusiasm and it's contagious. You have a new sub! P.S. The name Greenwich.... The most widely known Greenwich is in England. The Prime Meridian goes through there. Longitude 0°. While I don't know the reason, the "W" is silent. That means it is pronounced Grehn-ich. My pragmatism has a huge problem with words that have letters that aren't pronounced. Just hitting ya with some knowledge :) happy hunting, broski

I remember as a kid in the early 1980's it was very common to find wheat cents in your change. It was also fairly common to find a silver dime, or quarter in change. There was also the occasional buffalo nickel or mercury dime. Those days are long gone because in the 70's and 80's people that didn’t even collect coins would pull them out of circulation. My mom had a coffee can filled with silver coins, buffalo nickels, wheat cents, and Indian head cents she'd pulled out of change.

Getting very tempted to get back to roll hunting. Used to do it in Florida and years ago up here in ND but haven't for a long time. My wife works pt at the local grocery and also at the paper for our town and the one just over from us. They do UPS, etc., so have $$'s coming in/going out as well. She watches for me and brings me anything unusual or old that she finds. Today she brought another wheat. I figured no big... but later something told me to look it up. 1956 D with the "L" in Liberty so close to the rim it looks like "iberty". I see it's an error and can go for a good bit depending on grade. Hoping to take it to a couple coin shops about an hour from here when next we head over and get them to take a look and give their opinion on it re: possible grade/value. If deemed worth it I might submit to PCGS... never done that in my life but this one "might" be worth it. Just shows things are still out there to be found. :-) Love your videos! Happy hunting!

I used to be a huge collector of coins then about 10 years ago I sold them all stupidly. Working retail for 15 years I found tons of rare coins.. silver quarters dimes silver certificates etc. I once found a 1857 quarter smack dab in the middle of a brand new bank roll of 1999 state quarters . I've decided now that I'm an adult to start giving it another go. Just in last year I'm already at a roll of silver dimes a couple bucks worth of quarters.. like $10 in wheats/indians even a large cent.. all from register change..lol sorry for the rant but I just found your channel
