Saw them at the Los Angeles Forum in late '77...I remember they opened with "Back in the saddle" & they played "Walking the dog" and Tyler did a funky dance at the end of the "I'll show you how walk the dog" part... they also played "I wanna know why" which I hadn't heard yet...well because "Draw the line" hadn't been released yet...but it was an awesome concert !

That New Year's Eve '84/'85 show at The Boston Orpheum was a cool pro-shot bootleg video I remember. Still got it on vhs. That album and tour was behind the single "Let The Music Do The Talking". It was like a semi-comeback that stalled. Then in '87 they came back in full. Schmackamagob!

I saw them on the Rock in a Hard Place tour. I was back stage. Opening band was Pat Travers. I did not talk to anyone but Pat. He came over and watched the show standing beside me. I like Rock in a Hard Place. Did not like Done with Mirrors. I thought they were very good the night I saw them. Pat did too. The two guitar players were killing it when I saw them.

Saw them in '83 with Anvil opening, Binghamton NY. They were in pretty good form, Steven screeched out Lighning Strikes and it wasn't bad at all. Anvil was great, but people who didnt know them couldn't figure out if they were doing a Spinal Tap thing.

I SAW THE ROCK IN A HARD PLACE TOUR, WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. I LOVED 1970S SMITH, BUT IN 1982 TYLER WAS A TRAIN WRECK AT THAT SHOW. PEOPLE STARTED BOOING HIM! DONE WITH MIRRORS HAS THE ROCKIN ATTITUDE, BUT MOST OF THE TRACKS SOUND LIKE DEMOS TO ME. BUT I STILL LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE LAST 20 YEARS OF A-SMITH ALBUMS.

They were great up to live bootleg. I didn't even care for Night in the Ruts even tho that was the tour I saw em on. I can still smell that very distinct weed smell from that show.

I'm around your age Ralph and first time I saw Aerosmith was the Rock In A Hard Place tour. They cancelled in my hometown of Rochester NY for the Night in the Ruts tour. I agree with you exactly, Tyler was clearly very high but the band played well. Sound sucked as usual with Aerosmith. Saw them early in the Back in the Saddle tour and was expecting to be blown away, but the setlist and show quality and sound quality wasn't much different than RIAHP. Bottom line with Aerosmith: Tyler said in the early 1980s that "we keep getting older but our audience stays the same age." He's right. Aerosmith was a rite of passage for high schoolers from 13 to 17 years old. Most of them went, got messed up and heard the crappy sound and messed up performers and said "I'm good." I don't care when you saw the band. One of my best friends saw them in 1975 in the Rochester Dome Arena and said the sound was abysmal. He saw them a few more times and in 1985 walked out on them because the sound was so bad. I think their soundman must have been deaf. Anyone who doesn't think they were capable of playing great shows in 1982/83 just needs to check out the Aero-Remember youtube channel. Shows like Yarmouth Mass. 5/8/83, Honolulu 1/4/83, San Antonio 12/30/82 will probably change your mind fast. Their better performances of that era rank with some of their better ones from the late-1970s.

I saw Aerosmith twice on the Rock In A Hardplace tour. First time, Pat Travers opened. I thought Aerosmith rocked. The second time, some band with this short singer that had a powerful voice opened for them. That was a mistake. That opening band killed Aerosmith. It didn’t help that Tyler was wasted out of his mind either. That opening band was lead by some dude named Ronnie James Dio. lol. Didn’t see the Back In The Saddle tour, but did see Done With Mirrors with the Divinyls supporting. Aerosmith was much better at that show.

Saw these guys 46 years ago during the Draw The Line tour. Sadly, they were off their heads and they kinda sucked. The Jack was on the amp back then also, many trips were made to it.
