The original engine would’ve been a 36 hp if memory me correctly. Very nicely done restoration out standing!

I think people tend to go one of two ways with these busses. They either keep it as original as possible or give it a modern twist with new panels, new paint and usually a Porsche engine. I prefer to see them original. Every one is unique and they should be kept that way.

It's a very cool bus and I don't quite get where the line is drawn. All that painstaking keeping everything original but then tubbing and dropping it and putting in a better but only slightly better motor. I guess the owner gets to draw that line in whatever place he likes though and it makes this one unique!

I say WOW Jay also .. I have never ever seen a VW like this and I go to many car shows some of the biggest shows and I must say this is "One of a kind" should be worth lots of money. VW Corporation may be interested in buying this very rare bus for display at there headquarters I would contact them and send them some pictures.

What an amazing vehicle with history too. That engine bay is brilliant and dead simple technology with those old engines, they definitely benefit from not having ECU’s. I’m not a fan of rat look or slamming to the floor but I really appreciate the renovation work that’s been done, spot on.

Thanks for the comment mate. I have to agree also mate. I personally like the slammed look but I definitely get that most people don’t. Love this vehicle to be fair.

ha , not too original all but a clever piece of the antique dealers art of aging something to make it more valuable. The "as found pics " let the mangy cat out of the bag. If it were a car that just needed a mechanical make over and the body left untouched. Golde Handles can be found on a lot of fords from the 50's which were dealer equipped with Golde Sunroofs.

Great save, and nice job - but the facts are SOO wrong - Right hand cars were not at all common in Sweden, infact they were very rare - even thou they did drive on the wrong side. The reason why so many VW busses were driven into the woods and abandoned, after the change over is the barndoors. Passengers suddenly had to be loaded/unloaded into the middle of the street, and it was too expensive to change the doors for driving on the right side. PS where is the ventilation system ?

Thank you. Aw I see. I went off information from google and what I was told by the current owner and off the sellers in Sweden. So I guess it’s all third party information

@@JaysFabShop Yepp - and once you know it, you can see it. I first read about it many years ago , in Classic Motor. They had an article about two VW fanatics, that saved ANYTHING in regards to early VW.

Love it when people who haven’t got a hope in hell owning one offer their critical points of view! “He should have done it like this…”. It’s the choice of the owner to do what they do with their vehicles, not the observer…
